Hello has any body on here fitted on of the above to an auto trail Dakota any problems or straight forward please thank you for any help.

hi Brains do you find it works well.
Yes.
Keeps the batteries topped up all through the winter (alarms, tracker etc)
During the summer it keeps the lights on for days

It also has a app so you can see how much power you are making day by day
(and therefore a reminder to clean the solar panel!)

Is it the Orion TR 12/12-30 DC-DC charger you are considering? Does the MH already have a B2B charger, or does it have a split charge relay?

If it has a split charge relay, that connects the leisure battery and starter battery directly when the engine is running. You'll need to stop that from happening somehow. There are several ways to do this, but it depends on the details of the existing setup. What make/model of 12V distribution/fusebox does it have?

Yes the Orion b to b it’s a 2011 autotrail Dakota it has the Sargent ec 500

Are you planning to fit Lithium Leisure batteries?

One way to fix the split charge relay problem is to wire the B2B into the supply from the starter battery to the EC500. When the engine is running, the B2B supplies charging current to the EC500, and it goes through the split charge relay to the leisure battery, and anything else that needs it, like the fridge.

When the engine is stopped, there will be no back-flow along the B2B wire to the starter battery, so no starter battery voltage reading or charging from solar/EHU. If that is a problem, you can wire a Normally Closed (NC) relay triggered from the D+ signal just like the split charge relay. If you wire it across the B2B, it will bypass the B2B when the engine is stopped. It's the opposite of a split charge relay, actually.

NC relays are a bit hard to find, but a changeover relay (which has NO and NC contacts) can be used, and the NO contact can be ignored.

If it's just the voltage reading that is missing, it's probably easier to wire in a panel voltmeter.

Hi
i have the autotrail delaware and recently fitted Victron BMV712 shunt, Orion 30amp B2B with vanbitz battery master and MPPT smart solar.
I also have the sargent EC500 and happily report no issues at all, system working great

NB we did upgrade the wiring for both Orion B2B and the Solar set up
