Very tempted

261000 miles is that a potential issue?
These are ambulances that have been serviced every three months , everything that's wanted is done even down to new engines and gearboxes, they could be on their third engine, ours came with brand new tyres, changed a month before it was sold.

I wish i could but i just don't have the ability to convert a van or fix anything mechanical.
I do respect those that can and do, expecially those that take a old knackered wreck of a classic/vintage car and restore it to almost and in some cases better than new condition.
Good on you Chaser if you do it.

Maybe not a good idea to go battering people to knock the price down. Surely bartering would be a safer option 🤔 🤣🤣
Safer, but not nearly as effective, or could try a bit of buttering up, that might work.:(:(

£2,750 that's only a few fuel tank fill ups    And you could probably get it for less with a bit of battering.

Geoff
The one we have now, off the same bloke, was £2300 in 2017. So they have gone up.

Wow thats amazing was that on ebay?
And is it hard to change log book?
And also is it hard to get insurance?
Perhaps it would be an affordable way for me to get back into motorhoming as i wouldnt be investing too much money (as cant use it a lot due to commitments)
Cheers pampam

That bloke will do as much or little to help you convert them.
Logbook and insurance are no problem at all.
If you are serious I can help you with all that stuff.

An exciting project! A bespoke van.

How much is your current Van likely to achieve?
Well there's no knowing is there, it's what someone wants to pay, I am not suggesting this as a money making excerise, but for a one off for yourself you can make it to your own specifications for thousands less than buying one that probably is not what you want exactly.
But as rough figure, it cost me about four thousand all in so I would hope for five, but it's definitely not for sale.

For anyone who may be half interested, you in fact are more than half way there with these vehicles, all the hab batteries and split charging are already in as is windows, insulation, roof lights , roof fan, all rear lighting, lockers , diesel night heater, they are really nearly ready for the off, water and gas is all they need for the basic van.

Would love to build my own and that size van is very practical on our roads over here ( and carparks)
Unfortunately just dont have the space at home.
Maybe, one day.

Thanks for your inspiration chaser, we'd love to do a project, when we're retired I imagine we will. Much prefer a custom built van.

Good vans and fairly well spec'd at that price, (be even better if it was £1500 cheaper;)). Mine is the older Master version. It'd allow you to tweak anything from the current van you did that you'd change, then sell on the current one? They're in demand so should sell well. Go on, go for it(y)

I personally wouldn't touch an ambulance as they are a wiring headache and contrary to common belief they are not that well maintained , they do lots of miles and get thrashed , they get maintained but not spoiled. I know an ex ambulance mechanic and he says he has the same problem as others with having to make do. Cash strapped NHS doesn't throw money after these.
They are decommissioned when they become more costly to keep.

It’s good to see a Renault G9U engine getting over 1/4 million miles and still going strong,
makes my one with 78,000 miles just run in :giggle:

Its rare to find engines that cant do high miles these days . Guy that works with me has a 2003 ford fiesta 1.1L that's got just over 300k on it 😱
