Another thread to say a big thanks to the crew at Vanbitz. Had a new rear camera fitted on Wednesday and boy oh boy what a difference a camera makes. My old one packed up but was never that good. The new one is so crystal clear I was tempted to drive all the way back in reverse and also has Infa red so even at night I can see. Never got a bacon sarni of Eddie, never even saw him to say hello. Great products and great service so credit where credit is due. (y)

I would count your blessings...

On a serious note, the old bugger is not too bad, considering...

Only a reversing camera. You got away cheap. Every time I drop in for something it always doubles up to something else. Notice the waiting room is where all the toys are🥲🤣😂

I have been extremely scarce at work this week! being semi retired I try not to do Mondays and Fridays anyway, but, I spent a long weekend with my Son James who is busy getting ready with his business partner to open their new motorhome dealership, his wife Kate and our three adorable Grandchildren who all had colds!

Grandad of course by Monday morning, was dying with Man Flu so "self isolated" since getting back lol

Is it permitted to tell us anything about James’s new business, mainly the location?

A decent bloke would apologise for interrupting your time off ! (especially if you had man flu)

Any details on the camera ?
Im after a new one, my current one ( probably as old as the van ,) is shot.

I went for the Dometic RVS745. Really pleased with it. Yes it’s a lot of money but it’s a good bit of kit, nice 7” screen, Infa red for night time reversing, sound in case I run over someone while reversing, has a heater in it so no misting up. My old one that just packed up was made in Taiwan and compared to this one was like chalk and cheese, don’t know how I managed for the last few years with it. Properly my good driving  or a lot of luck and maybe some run over peaple.(y)

I've put a piece of tape over the top joint because my one let water into the lens.

If my one lets water in it will be going back. (y)

It took mine over a year, but it became so foggy as to be useless.
I took it apart and cleaned it - its been OK since

You might try a little smear of silicone grease on the rubber seal, we used to use that on the seals on underwater camera housings. Not vaseline though as that damages them.

Whenever I open up cameras or similar I introduce a bag or two of absorbent granules, there is usually plenty of room and they keep the units moisture free.

On a similar theme, does anyone have a suggestion for keeping my Camos Jewel 2 camera dome cover clear? Brilliant system but holds rainwater on the outside. Difficult to clean with 2 bikes on the towbar mounted carrier!
