As per title, fitted easy peasy as all the bits you could need are in the pack, I took the cover of our CBE control panel and two battery +ve's and a -ve were sat there just waiting to be used. Turned lights on to discharge battery and the red light came on saying it was doing its job, started up and light to green, job done.

Thanks @eddievanbitz

Martin - am I correct in thinking this will allow the engine battery to be charged from any solar and ehu input to the leisure batteries?

If so - is it an easy fit for a dummy like me? !!!

Given the time of year I was half expecting you to say that after the green light came on three wise men turned up. :xgrin:

Hi Dave

Three wires, you just need to identify the easiest place to connect them.

I believe it's 0.7 volt lower on the starter battery compared to the leisure batteries then it kick in and sends a couple of amps to the starter battery.

Our CBE system charges the starter battery when there is solar or EHU but when it's parked in the shed and no solar or EHU I want the starter battery charged, when the battery master has coupled the two together and their combined voltage reaches 12.2 volts the EFOY will kick in and charge it all back up again so the battery master will switch out and wait for the starter battery volts to drop before kicking in again and the cycle begins again.

:xeek: I wish I had understood that. :xblink:

I have a battery master and dread the day I need to replace one of the leisure batteries.... I can't understand all this electrical stuff ..

I had one fitted after my Carthago equivalent packed up.
Great bit of kit and no fear of a flat engine battery ever again

Hmm. I
Must be more of a dummy than I thought.
What and where is the split charge relay?
If you have to connect one wire to the engine bat and one to the leisure bat - how the heck do you do that when ones under the bonnet and the others in the middle of the van??!?

The split charge relay is what splits/shares the alternator charge between the starter battery and the leisure battery BUT it only connect when the engine is running and disconnects when the engine is off so it can not flatten the leisure battery or indeed keep the starter battery topped up when the engine is not running, hence the need for the battery master.
I you found said relay (under the bonnet at a guess) it would have all the required wires there to use. I dont think our van has one as it charges and controls through the CBE system but luckily under the cover of the CBE control box all three connections that are required are sat there.

You could of course just take a wire from one battery to the other with the battery master in the middle.

Hi Joy

It doesn't make replacing your batteries any more complicated than if you didn't have one at all.

You'll find all the required wires come back to the clever electrical box that sorts out everything. I fitted mine next to that in the garage of my Rapido

Well earlier in this post @BreweryDave asked where to find the connections for the Battery Master, you only need 3 Leisure battery +ve starter battery +ve and a -ve.

Whatever it say the pictures was the clue as to what would be inside the cover, a voltmeter tells which B is which battery as our leisure sit at about 13 volts being gel and the starter would be about 12.6.

So lid off and yes there are some wires inside, the only bit I am interested in though is the promised connections which you can see just the one -ve on the left of the box. So basically just connected the correct wire to each of the three studs and job done.
