3 months exactly to the day my V5 arrived. Of course it's wrong, they didn't reduce the weight limit. So now it's farting about getting it corrected.
Told i can take the van to a VOSA station to get it weighed and stamped officially OR couple other options they advise. After lockdown is over i suppose.
We will get there eventually.........................inshallah.

Mines the other way, was 3650 want it back to 3500 as don't have C1. The guy i bought it off had it up plated.

EDIT, whilst typing this i am thinking maybe as easy to get my C1 back....................ermmmmm

We have changed cars, retained plates and even dealt with an incorrect address on V5 all well inside 7 days per event

might it be slightly optimistic to make any ‘less needed’ changes while the country is struggling to keep up 🤔

technically mine were not needed , but more so than revenue changes, unless you are reducing due to age then I retract any criticism 👍

Edit - you replied while I typed, I now feel for you 🤔👍

Ok no prob. For legal reasons i have to either reduce the van from HGV to standard 3500 or to upgrade my licence once again. I have to be seen to be legalising my status.

Just tried to find the post that advises easiest way to get the C1 reinstated. I seem to remember something like contact D5 ????? at £55 or something like that. Grateful if someone could remind me. Ta too much.

Tried to retain a number on line ( as i have done a number of times) and got the message “ this reg number cannot be retained on line, please apply by post”
Bugger, car is sold
Duly posted ( special de,ivery) and within 6 days the number had changed on the gov website

New V5 arrived, 12 days start to finish 👍

Sorry to go on but, HELP.

Looking for the tel number and/or company that arranges the medical and paperwork to apply for reinstatement/ continuation of C1 after 70.

Looked through lots of past post but cannot find it.

It will depend on how/why you "lost" the C1.

On the assumption that it lapsed when you reached age 70 and lost "grandfathers" rights (obtained by passing driving test before 1997)....

You will have to submit application form D2 together with medical form D4 completed by a doctor. Both these forms are available from DVLA , but I doubt you will have any luck there at the moment.
You can get form D2 from certain Post Offices and form D4 can be downloaded and printed from the site above.

Getting the D4 completed may be problematic! Your GP may or may not do it due to Covid and will cost £100+. There are agency doctors, D4Drivers etc that again may or may not be able to do it during lockdown. Cost about £50-60.

Once you have the D4 completed fully (check and double check) you will need to send both to DVLA. Again problematic at present.

If you were applying to retain C1 you would have been able to carry on driving your +3500kg MH under Sec.88, RTA 1988 but that will not apply to you as you will be applying to reinstate your C1.

Good Luck

From posts above and the errors some contain DVLA seem intent on retaining their reputation for incompetence.

I think it is time for complaints letters to go to that Agency's government sponsoring department's Minister at Department for Transport.

Thanks a lot. I am aware of the required forms that need filling. I let my grandfather rights lapse when i reached 70 last Dec.
The name i was looking for you have mentioned and i am grateful for that, being D4Drivers.
All i can do for now due to the current situation is contact then and set the ball rolling.
Once again Ta.

Medical on Sat to reinstate my C1. Chester. Yippee. D2 on the way but will ask at PO anyway. D4 all printed and ready to go.
