Hi All
I have a tom tom and a new chinese sat nav. Neither will recognise the postcode or address of the campsite I am headed for,but I do have the map coordinates - I just don't know how to use them on the sat navs. Any hints appreciated as I am in a lay-by on the A507 (I think) :xblink: :xsmile:

What are the coordinates you re looking for ?

What coordinates do you have? If OS reference it may be you need to convert them to lat Lon.. there are some simple online tools to do this. I presume you have decent mobile web access so try this

I am headed for

52°01'38.8"N 0°16'09.8"W

but as it was a bit early to phone them for directions (which I will in a minute) I thought it might be a good time to find out how to use them :xThumb:

Hi

You don't say which TT you have.

Could be following

Tap Navigate to

Tap right arrow to take to second page if need be

Tap Long/lat if option available

Tap in co-ordinates but remember the N and the W should be before their numeric reference. Ie N 52°01'38.8" W 0°16'09.8"

The latest ĢO series work differently.

I'm intrigued as to why neither your tom tom or chinese jobby will recognise the post code, I just put it (SG16 6DD) into CoPilot on my phone and it came up with Arlesley road.

Yup.. Tried the co-ords and the post code in both the Garmin and Tomtom.. Rocked straight in without any probs ?
Weird !

Are you missing the second part of the postcode on your tom tom,?
Had this happen to me. You can get postcode file off the Internet and upload to tom tom.
It's worth persevering with coordinates. They are more accurate and great finding campsites in UK and abroad.

If its any help, the site is just on the north side of the A507, just west of a major railway line :-)

Try this Map ref
6 Arlesey Rd
Henlow SG16 6DD, UK
52.026751, -0.269319

Thanks all - I was less than mile away so just phoned them and got verbal instructions. You can see the site from the road as you go over a bridge.

DJA - I have used the co-ords in the tom tom before, but couldn't remember how I go to them so thanks DJA :xsmile:

Dave newell lvs - That's because the site concerned gave their postcode as SG16 6LN !xroll:

Thanks - theonlysue (from yet another sue) I want to get into using the co-ords as I often find that I the tom tom does not recognise either the post code or the address. Got it from tooth fairy off another forum and will send it back to him for updates once I am happy with new chinese one. Till I bought another I couldn't send it back to him as I constantly need it. However much I moan about Strict Lady I simply couldn't manage without her help. :xwink:
