Hi all.
I would like to download Netflix and/ or Amazon Prime programmes and then watch them off line. The question though is can I link a tablet ( yet to be bought) directly to my Avtex TV HDMI port using a cable.
I will be in Europe soon for a month and know I will not get TV signals, so wanted to know how to preload a tablet with stuff and what to look for in the tablet.
Many thanks.

Get a google chromecast. That plugs into your hmdi socket. You can then cast your tablet to the Google Chromestick, which is on your TV.

I do this at home to watch stuff off my laptop on our non smart TV. Also will cast stuff off your phone. YouTube etc.

Best bit.....no leads required. - will need wifi though.

Some of the iPad and iPad mini models you can.

Thanks, but need to do this abroad (where Netflix won't work) and with no WiFi anyway. 😟

Download to tablet/phone, play it on tablet and cast to the Chromecast. You won't need to be connected via WiFi - you're just mirroring the tablet to the TV screen via the Chromecast.

Yes, Google hdmi cable + your tablet of choice, they certainly make them for iPads/iPhones.

It is really easy to create a local wifi network, we use a mifi which cost circa £50 and buy cheap data sims before we travel. You can access Netflix while travelling as well as iPlayer, NOWTV, etc. we have the mifi set up with an Apple TV all connected to our Avtex TV.

Thanks. I was under the impression that my Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts will not allow viewing in France. Is that true?

Nope, definitely not true, whenever we travel in France all our normal accounts work. I’m not sure how long they work for but we have never had an issue when abroad for a few weeks at a time.
