I need a couple of usb sockets and am looking for an easy solution. I already have a 12v socket for the tv and wondered if I could piggy back off that or perhaps the lighting circuit as I’ve exchanged all the lamps for LED?
I have a 2015 globecar globescout

So long as you don't overload the wiring (and check the fuse size) by having too much on at once you shouldn't have any issues with what you suggest.

I've done both using whatever was the most handy supply to where I wanted to put the socket. You can never have too many. :)

The plug in adapters are much better quality than the dedicated USB sockets, they can be easily changed if they do fail and If you fit the marine accessory sockets the adaptors plug in solidly and sit nearly flush with the wall.

I like that solution. So I guess I’d fit a second cigarette type fitting and then use the adapter. You mentioned marine accessory sockets, I have no experience of these?

These work quite well for me:

They tell you the voltage when idle and the current when charging. The voltage may be out by 0.1-0.2V as they are cheap chargers, not precision multimeters, but still useful.

I used one in sweltering heat for a long european trip and it still works fine. They plug into any 12V cigarette socket.

As with all plug-in adaptors do NOT leave them 'on' when you leave the vehicle, always remove them.
