Newbie question mk 2.

Why do I have an American flag on my icon badge? :(

1) you are in the USA.
2) you are using a vpn.

Thank you, I am using a VPN, but it's a UK IP. I will try to turn off the flag.

Your IP Address shows you logged in from the coast of California. Hope the weather is nice over there:D

Opera browser has a VPN feature, you might not even know it's on.
Switch it off if you can as it slows everything down, a lot.
Thank you, I use ExpressVPN which is generally very good & this is the first time it's been "spotted". FWIW, slowdown is hardly anything. 60mbps, 55mbps with VPN. Browser is Firefox.

I’ve just got NordVPN on offer two years for £104 so a pound a week ain’t bad in my books😊

Interested how you find it. I used Nord first - their marketing is better!

It was fine for general browser use, slow down was about 25% for me. But other call-home things, such as Adobe Creative cloud was blocked. You can contact support & they will help fix this stuff. But there are so many things calling home, causing trouble every day, I eventually had to get a refund & look elsewhere. I reached a point where both Adobe CC & Exchange 365 just wouldn't work from day to day. This plus my Logmein Rescue & Snagit capture not working just lost the deal for me.

FWIW ExpressVPN costs me US$99.95 pa

I get the USA flag sometimes and I have a VPN, it can send you all over the place in my experience. I was web-chatting with Netflix the other day as my TV was not synchronizing with my Desktop and mobile. And, we worked out it was all about VPN. Netflix told me they could not see where I was even when it was set to UK or disconnected, I need to force stop the app to go back to my resident country :dance2: :dance2:

Netflix block all VPNs, they seem to make it their life's work as they must avoid the terrible possibility of someone may be watching American TV!

That’s expensive for Nord, quite often do 75% cashback via the various cashback websites. Got mine through that and they paid up promptly

Interested in what you pay with cash back as the one I have was around 60% off?🤔

Netflix block all VPNs,
That's not quite what they told me, I asked if it was OK to keep using it and the operator said ' Its fine as long as it works for me' So i have Eastern European TV on the TV and whatever part of the world I want on the desktop and mobile. (y) :drinks:

For now anyway!

From memory I got 2 years for £70 but then got 75% cashback via TCB. I’m happy with them, some websites block you but I think that is more to do with the fact I’m using a VPN rather than Nord.

Thanks so far so good and it’s easy to set up😊

With Nordvpn paid $129 for a three year deal [will expire in Dec] so I'll be looking for another offer in a few months
Thought it a bargain, and happy with the product.
