We are active eBike riders...Downhill/XC on YT Decoys and Gravel on Canyons.
I do like to get the best out of our bikes and am happy to make a few modifications to suit our riding styles.
There is very little we can do with our Decoys, tyre changes are about all we needed...they remain a very suitable ride for both of us.
However the Canyons did need a tweak or two...using the Fazua system this limited power motor supports us quite well, but I decided to change the chainring from single 48T to 36T......this has made such a significant difference, we can now ride without power on more sections...giving us a greater range.
Today I will fit wider tyres which will made the ride more comfortable and versatile on rougher sections....that should be it for now.
Safe riding..

Yea stock tyres are usually quite basic affairs.

Some lighter Kevlar tyres make so much difference.

Popped new Tubeless tyres on with a bit more tread pattern and still maintaining good rolling...now ready for a bit of steep gravel....plenty of that here in Spain..

Thats a lovely looking bike..(y)
When I read your gear upgrade I couldn't help thinking it was to big a jump for things to feel right and the gear train to cope with..have you done that without having to alter anything other than the chain length..
I've never altered a chain ring by more than two or three teeth
Andy..

Well the bike build is somewhat unusual...a single 48T chainring caused me some problems...so I contacted Fazua the motor manufacturing company in Germany...they said it's quite acceptable to reduce to 36T a big jump but...it's what we see on Fazua driven MTBs.....believe me it worked....having 70 year old knees and energy levels it's fun.
I chopped the chain a little...that's about all...I now ride with or without power engaged on the flat.... I've since done the same to jumartoo bike....she also appreciates the change....

If you find it works that is the acid test(y)

And I'm not been critical..I really have no idea..its just everything I've ever done suggested it was to big a jump..in fact on some bikes I'm sure it couldn't be accomplished without furthur mods ..
My bike came with a 30 t which I promptly changed for a 34 cause i thought i could manage that, as I was on mainly country lanes.. but I ride the bike loaded with luggage quite a bit of the time and swiftly put the 30 back on:LOL:, and have even been contemplating a 28...thats what my old bones are telling me as well:(..
Cheers..

This bike will also be lightly loaded...but because will live surrounded by big hills it will remain limited...our bikepacking is now Hotelpacking....nice to have a comfortable bed at night....having done Spain, East to West, North to South and diagonally with full kit I think we need to consider a different approach to bike touring....🥴👍😀🇪🇦
