Getting better
I know generator use is contentious. Would it be reasonable to be more understanding if generators were used in short bursts under the present circumstances of higher site rates, less gas availability etc? If one tried to be less EHU reliant, then instead of going to a site to recharge appliances, top up batteries etc, use a generator for a couple of hours?

The fastest way to charge, is use of lithium. Then a upgraded alternator and a sizeable B2B. You already have a generator on board, use it while you drive.
If that’s not possible financially, a small 1kw inverter generator used couple of hrs it’s not that bad.

If there was such a thing as a silent generator there would be less problems. If you're on your own in an aire or FLT spot then you can't annoy anyone.
A chap I used to rally with had a very long ehu lead and would site his generator well away from any vans where a suitable spot, perhaps in woodland, was available. Possibility of having the gennie nicked I suppose.

Absolutely, Maximum Battery Power, same with Solar Panels, l also have EFoy and a 1kw generator on board if all else fails.
l spend long periods off grid on occasion and have payload to be able to accommodate my needs, therefore, it’s really down to what you need, the payload, and what you can afford.

A inverter generator in a acoustic box works quite well in therms of sound. I have seen it done.
