Hi all, thinking of changing the motorhome for one with an island bed, as my better half is tired of me clambering over her in the night to use the ablutions, have suggested swapping sides but she doesn't want to climb over me to use the same!

All the ones I've seen seem to be quite long and I don't particularly want to go over 7m, soooooo does anybody know of a moho which is 7m or less which has an island bed?

The only one I've found is the Adria Sun Living S70SC but I'm not keen on the hab door been on the "wrong" side

All suggestions gratefully received

Thanks in advance

Does it have to be an island bed or would 2 single beds do? This would help keep the length down and give more options, alternatively you could look to use an A-class with a rear double and another dropdown one at the front if you don't mind more 'distance' between you - this is what we do with our Carthago, I have the lovely double at there rear hubby has the lovely dropdown double at the front.

As for the hab on the wrong side, that's gonna severely limit your choice as it would mean UK produced models only.

Why not go for the 2 singles at the rear, would give you so much more choice.

With a rear longitudinal bed, you can both get out at the foot without climbing over each other.

Our Carado T339 is 6.99m. Has an Island bed which is great and very comfy. The only 6.5m one we could find was a Chausson but it looked too cramped when we saw it in the flesh so we changed plan and went to 7m. I think there are a couple of Chausson 7m ones and indeed most manufacturers do them. Quite a few have drop down doubles as well though and we specifically didn't want that

if you can 'do' the door in the wrong side (it really isnt an issue) then seek out a used Carthago C-Compactline i145 QB with island bed. the latest versions (i144) nowhere near as nice.
also its slimmer, at 2.12m wide, which makes it far easier to drive.
we have the shorter i138.

Thanks for all the suggestions it's given me some to look at

Beginning to realise that, but the length and door are down to access problems at home

The wife isn't keen on singles, I am her hot water bottle!!

Hymer Exsis I 698 @7.2mšŸ˜Š I believe there is also a shorter version?

Both a little bit too pricey for me I'm afraid, but very nice

French beds are very user friendly and more space saving.

We have a French bed that's the problem, one or the other has to climb over to get out of bed hence looking at an island bed

Cheers

We have a Dethleffs trend DBM 6557. 6.66m island bed. We are happy.
Ours is the low profile but there is an A class, same dimensions.

No such thing as jab door on wrong side unless you are going to jump out into traffic. Makes no practical difference.

I think the suggestion was that it wasn't about general usability, but that the layout of the parking at home that would result in a right hand door right up against a wall or suchlike.

Low Profile - Globebus T7
Dethleffs Globebus T7 (or I7). No brainer, IMO (we love ours). If you get one without the front drop down double bed you'll also be kgs & kgs in credit regarding max weight.

Just beginners bad luck hopefully as Carado still get a good name and a Hymer dealer pushed me towards them in terms of both price and quality as 'Hymers are not what they used to be'. Just need to keep reminding myself that's it's all part of the 'fun' and in any case I would get my Ā£Ā£Ā£ back if I decided to give up and sell.

We are very pleased with it compared to the build of the last MH we had. It was a Fiat Bessacarr E795 and from the moment we had it bits were dropping off! We picked up so many small screws from the floor of the thing that we lost count!

not as nice as the earlier i145qb, hence my suggestion of a used one, which would compete easily on price with a new Swift Escape or similar cheaper new van at around Ā£50k

McLouis Fusion 367, just under 7m, island bed and has the hab door on the U.K. side. Combi 6, 115L fresh, 100L waste and separate shower too, wood free construction... a very stylish van.
