Pulled up in Ullapool today. Main carpark (only carpark) is now just about closed to motorhomes. Can not Park in lorry bays, can only park in carpark if you fit in a normal car bay space.
So that leaves Tesco, and small side roads, but seen motorhomes with tickets if they are partly on paths too. Went in chippy and shops, some not happy to potentially lose business.
Highlands Council need their arsed kicking.

Probably part of the Calmac overall decision to ban Motorhomes from joining stand by queues and you need to have made an an advance booking to get on the ferries. This decision was done because of the complaints from locals not being able to get on the ferries due to the number of motorhomes. There is also a likelihood that they will limit the number of advance bookings for motorhomes so there is room for the locals.

There is loads of parking 100m away along the front by the Loch.

I parked there a couple of weeks ago no problems.
If its a no go, dont stay drive on to Lochnivar instead.
Dont forget to stock up on pies from the 'Larder '
Restaurant closed but magnificent pies from a converted army truck.
On the right as you come in to village before fuel station.

Lots stop at Tesco in Ullapool to stock up on food. Parking by Lochside on seafront is usually a nogo as ots usually full of cars and motorcycles

There is a parking area near the port on the right looking out to sea.
when we were there 2wks ago we parked on the street.
Not as large or commercial as Ullapool but i prefered it.

Having done Scotland earlier this year. We enjoyed the break but. The constant complaining from unhappy locals the difficulties finding parking the feeling that you’re not welcome etc just makes for a stressful holiday.
We headed up 2 weeks ago and gave up and turned around and booked France 🇫🇷
Just hit them in the pocket. Europe is back on. Really easy and loads of parking very welcoming people. Sunshine :sun: So as far as we are concerned they can watch as the money goes elsewhere and they can whinge about that as well

I was surprised to only see one motorhome and one caravan on this morning’s sailing. They would have only had space for another one or two more at most

We have spent a lot in Ullapool over the last 30 years. Don’t think we will bother in the future. Can’t see why the changes to the ferry policy should impact on the car park. Most people parked there are shopping or buying fish and chips.
