daveclare Thats because the new UK ones don’t come into being until 28th September.

Then regardless of updating the EU plates, as above, you still must display the large white oval ones with UK on in Spain and I think it is 3 other countries that we would not normally visit.

Until then we must display the GB signs tkk

I like my GB plate, I'm in no rush to stick a UK plate on my van. I still get annoyed when I have to scroll past almost every country to get to 'United Kingdom' when inserting an address in a website. G or B would be closer to the top not at the bottom of the heap where U resides.😔

Thanks for making it clear. I don't think I'll have much luck buying a UK plate sticker in France. May be in Spain or Italy by then.

I’ve ordered a UK sticker as hopefully off to France on Sunday(not booked tunnel yet) and heading to St Tropez for the regatta. If the sticker doesn’t turn up in time I don’t think it will matter.

Been in Spain three weeks now with UK sticker. Won’t be over worrying about it being illegal until the 28th, at which point all the Brit Motorhomes here will be rushing to change there GB’s accordingly. 😎

Just ordered my new ones.

I have successfully suppressed the urge to respond and am returning to the OPs original thread.

I still have the old GB EU number plates on mine. Wearing a badge of something that we are no longer a member of doesn't bother me at all. However, I do wonder whether the EU will get around to making it illegal. I will then get UK and GB stickers and plates as necessary.

Fact is, large parts of France, Spain and Italy depend on our tourist pounds. I doubt that the local peelers will make it too difficult for driving tourists when Yerp opens back up fully.

Isn’t this ridiculous?
Is this the end of GB?
Are the Olympic team going to change their name as well?

I once got stopped and thoroughly grilled with a view to not being allowed entry into the USA at a New York airport as I’d put England down on the form, only to be told that England is not a country by the burger eating shirt button popping man at immigration, until I changed the form to United Kingdom. Now that’s a country I was told!

Anyway, if you do buy a sticker, save your receipt because if Sturgeon gets her way, we won’t be United anymore.

I wonder if they do a discount for just K?
We could be called Kingdom or Dom for short instead of the Brits.
The Dom music awards.
It’s got potential

The thought police may soon be insisting we change to the United Persondom ....

Apparently N Ireland is retaining the GB symbol on its number plates!

Great Britain is the largest island of the British Isles and comprises Wales, Scotland, England and the ancient Kingdom of Kent :winky:

It seems Northern Ireland can use NI on their plates. So it’s a UK sticker for GB!!

Still have the angles mort to put on. Been here a month. No problems

At the waste dump at Gruissan the other day and two confused looking French chaps asked me what my nationality was.
When I told them English they pointed to my front number plate that has the new U.K. stickers on.
I had to explain, in pidgin French, that GB was out and U.K. was in.
My explanation was accepted with grunts and Gallic shrugs. :giggle: :france:

Richard.

The new UK insignia requirement doesn't commence until 28 September, so it's not surprising you weren't pulled.

Wasn't your Kingdom the first to surrender to the Anglo-Saxons?
No more wee-wee taking of the French svp!

Outrageous slur. We might have caved in to the Romans, Franks, Jutes and lost a few times to Mercia and the Vikings, but never the Angles or Saxons

However the Men of Kent, the Fair Maids of Kent, the Kentishmen and Kentish Maids redeemed themselves by being the only part of England that William never conquered. We did a deal with him and established ancient rights of autonomy that were not really repealed until 1925.

Sorry, I digress...

Has anyone in the past been fined for no GB sticker ?

Never going to get pulled for this, just have a look at the amount of vehicle that never had a GB sticker on previously. No one cares.
Your choice for an outlay of less than £1.50...

If it is a new rule for continental travel - which it is - then, personally, I intend to follow it. Simples. (y)

Don't they sell the letters, 'U' and 'K' at the hardware stores in France?

That's taking their anymosity towards us 'Rost Bifes' to a whole new level.

But thats the whole point of this pointless change to support NI.
Another knee jerk political move as GB is geographically wrong also, I won’t be investing in new numberplates just yet if ever.
