I have just received the latest update and it states you may be asked to complete the EU-plf form before boarding, which is a European Passenger Location Form. This is required for France, Malta and Slovenia at the moment. It appears that this only currently applies to air transport (when you follow the link), however, when I first checked this morning the site didn't say air passenger only and seemed to imply it required some kind of pre registration. We are off to France by Ferry on Wednesday, anyone's thoughts/knowledge appreciated.

Came on the tunnel , Tuesday , not asked for anything.

I started trying to fill it in as though I was travelling to France and as soon as you do it , it quite clearly says you only have to do it if arriving by Aircraft. We’re on the ferry the following week so don’t worry. Mind you it might change again but troday you’re fine!

It has been on the guidance for many months now so not something new and not applicable to ferry or tunnel anyway.

Thanks everyone. The issue only came up as the Gov site sent an e-mail today saying this was a new requirement for travel to France and initially seemed to state that there was a need to pre register with all sorts of details and there was no mention of airline travel only!! The details that concerned us have since been removed so it would appear to be a false alarm - I blame the civil servants working from Spain!!!;) (yes I do know it is not been approved yet)

We came over on the Wednesday ferry from Pompey to Caen and only needed to show our passport, didn’t even bother to check our fridge for dairy/meat contraband 😎. Of course we were squeaky clean in that department 😜

Hi Phill … I have the Covid health pass…where did you upload the names of those Traveling?

On the Tunnel you need to do it under API information.
You have to do API on the ferry but that’s normal anyhow, I think some people are getting confused. API is something you’ve had to do for years it’s nothing to do with passenger locator forms.

Indeed, API requirement for air, sea or tunnel travel pre-dates Covid by some years. (y)

Aaah ok…. Already did that…. Thought they meant something Covid related.

It's been the case for a long time that you MAY be asked to provide proof of where you are staying and proof of income when you visit France and I assume other EU countries, but it rarely if ever happened. Pre COVID and Brexit no one gave such matters a second thought, but now we're in the habit of checking, these requirements pop up in search results.

You do have to have your Covid pass available for them to look at if they want and if you’ve not had your booster then you need a negative PCR within 72 hours or antigen test within 48 hours.

It’s just the EU-PLF (passenger locator form) that you don’t have to do.

Can somebody help? What is API and where do I get this form? Sorry my knowledge is poor

Api is advance passenger information... If you are travelling by shuttle you upload it to your booking.
Then 2 says before travelling you can upload your covid status to the same place.
There are links for both.

I don't think you need to worry too much once you cross into the EU, the rules are very relaxed, you just need to be observant re local mask wearing ( I keep a mask in my back pocket just in case ) and you may be asked for the Covid pass in restaurants, make sure you have PP2 mask on hand if you need to seek medical help or go into an official building.
We have been in France, Germany ( home country), Austria, Italy and Slovenia so far this year and have only been asked if we are fully jabbed and can show if needed, that's it, crossing borders is no trouble.

Have fun, don't worry and travel safe

Just counting my pennies now for the next trip

Good morning,

Did you upload anything onto the Eurotunnel website 72 hours before departure ? apart from the Api which has nothing to do with covid, we are off on the tunnel next week and it's best to try and keep up to date

I booked long ago and can't remember what I filled in. I'll just take it that when I turn up at the port they won't ask me for an API.
Thanks for the help everyone

The api is requested by the eurotunnel booking form usually at the time of booking and can be done anytime from booking to departure, it mainly consists of names and their nhs number. I can,t think why except that the Goverment knows who,s coming and going.

We used the tunnel on Monday, all they needed was passport number which you can supply at any time and proof of vaccination within 72hrs of travel.
