How often should you change the van tyres. I've read 6yrs is this about right or just a tyre sales pitch.

I changed mine after 6 years even with 6 mm of tread left on.

So just an age thing. Milage or wear doesn't come into it.
It’s an age think unless they are worn or crazed, mine spent the equivalent of 3 years parked up in the sun in Spain so decided to change them.

Only had van 3yrs so not sure how old tyres. Was going to change front 2 as one has a slow puncture. But guess best bet is to go with all 4.
Last question would you change spare as well or just keep the best old one.

You could look on the tyre wall for the manufacture date which would give you some idea of the age, changed my tyres for the same ones and have kept the original spare as it’s under the van and still appears okay.

Some tyres have a greater ability to overcome UV light than others, so a close visual inspection coupled to 6 or 7 years & you shouldn't go too far wrong, but the inspection is very important.

New tyres going on tomorrow. Better safe than sorry.
And thanks for the replies

If you leave the van standing for a couple of months at a time it's best to change after 5 years, if using the van regularly they are normally ok for a few more years.
Ours are normally worn out in 3 to 4 years, I always change all 5 and rotate the spare.

Depends on the tyres, make, model etc, but mine are 10 years, so long as they are inspected as should be the case with all tyres.

I bet zillions of squiddlies £££££ are thrown away in the panic over tyres. Had mine fitted in 2014 and they’ve been well looked after, loads of tread, fly through the MOT and lovely to drive on, but horses for courses and people will change em as they see fit and gives them peace of mind. Won’t be changing mine until either 2024, or if they needed it.
