Being unsure {that if fitted, they could make testing awkward}, I took my Tyrepal TPMS valve sensors off ahead of an MOT

And then - belatedly - asked Tyrepal what they advised.
The reply was that on their vehicle they leave the sensors on.

If I remember, I'll ask the MOT centre what they expect.

Any experience - good or bad - from you lot? :)

EDIT: Some clarity

As of 1 January 2015, a vehicle displaying a TPMS fault when submitted for its MOT will result in a test failure.
If you have fitted Tyrepal or other after market screw on the valve type TPMS then it they are not fitted when you go for an MOT the it can't fail on what's not there.

I would have thought it only applied to OEM fitted TPMS units. If worried rather than take them off why not just take the receiver out of the van.
Surely you wouldn't be driving the van anyway if it was flagging up a fault.

Sorry about the lack of info, I didn't remove the TPMS to hide a fault
I took them off because the sensors block normal access to the valve and I have an assumption that tyre pressure could be a test item.

I would take them off too, and have done so today as ours it at the MOT place as I type. I had a bad experience at a Fiat Professional garage in France when we needed a running repair. All fixed and ‘the lad’ was left to prepare the vehicle to give back to the customer (me) which included a courtesy tyre pressure check. He must have thought the caps were rather large and very tight so just forced it off, breaking it. Luckily I stopped him doing the other three.

No, checking the tyre pressures is not part of an MOT test

Thanks for the feedback. (y)

It's not a complete waste of time.
Now the sensors are removed, at least I can put the tyre pressures to a different value.
The running PSI is what they should be cold so I want to boost them ;)

Ours with Tyrepal fitted through it's MOT a couple of days before lockdown started.
