I’m a newbie
Hi all, I have a 2007 hymer based on a transit chassis, could someone confirm tyre pressures, someone suggested 3.5 bars front and 4.75 bars rear, this is almost 80psi, can anyone help the tyres are 215x75 x 16...thanks

it depends on your axle loading..... look up in the search facility for tyre pressures there are a number of threads on this and charts available.

As above.....
And....some tyre manufacturers have very good websites where you put in all the details needed to answer your question accurately.

And remember, all tyres will increase pressure when running. So 80 psi (cold) can easily become 90psi (hot).

eg; My rears for example are 65psi cold. Once I get on the road they go to 75psi. and stay there. and the temperature is consistent. According to the Tyrepal units.

This will help
Cheers

Just make sure that they run slightly warm (not sticky) and not hot or cold.

Can’t i magine the professional tyre gauges having the scale being, cold, sticky, hot.
but would be an easy visual graphic on the dashboard....what colour for sticky.. ? :giggle: :giggle:

If you have Continental tyres, load up your motorhome in holiday mode and take it to a weighbridge and get a reading for each axle weight. Armed with that info contact Continental, tell them the size type and load rating of your tyres and they will tell you the tyre pressures you should use for front and rear. If you ask they will usually email you a chart showing tyre pressures for different axle weights for the tyre you are using. I print it out and keep it in the motorhome.

Just give the tyre manufacturer by phone, your front and rear axle weights and they will give you the correct pressures. Normally while you wait. Colyboy

The yanks have an even more scientific method. They measure the load on each corner. Then you will get 2 different weights (likely) each side of the axle reflecting the uneven loading. You then use the highest one of the 2 when referencing the tyre manufacturers reference chart for pressures on both sides. On the US forums when I was a Yankee owner many posters reported quite significant differences side to side. Caused by tank positions, optional locker loading etc. Having said that I have never done it as its is so much faffing around on the weighbridge. If I had individual gauges it might have been something to pursue.

Hi my hymer same size tyres and I run at 5.3 bar

Sheddy. Thanks for the link to TyreSafe. Used it today to find the correct pressures for our MH. Front 53psi, Rear 80psi.

Thanks everyone, most helpful information.

I’ve got the same size tyres on my fiat based 2001 Hymer and the handbook state 4.5 bar for my model.
