Started in 2005, then took a 15 year break, back in 2022
My new Dethleffs tag is fitted with Continental Vancontact Camper 255/55 R18.
I just fitted a Tyrepal, and want to set the alarms. I knew the owners manual listed the pressures for a range of fitted tyres, but
annoyingly the latest manual I have for the van does not list any 255/55 tyres.
Would most builders not put a label in the vehicle somewhere (as they do in cars) to make it obvious what the pressure should be?

Cheers,

Steve

In our van, such a sticker is on the front passenger's side of the van below the strike plate. But that has a notice for 55psi for all tyres whereas Bailey state that the pressure for the fitted Michelin Agilis Campers is 79psi all round. So the van one is for us, useless!
Incidentally we found that 65 psi front and 79 psi rear to be far more comfortable and have used these pressures in our newly fitted Michelin tyre. We have a Tyrepal system but haven’t fitted it yet (over a year)!

Get your van on a weighbridge fully loaded then contact Continental and give them the axle weights they will give you the correct pressures.

Thanks. Guide is interesting, but no 255 tyres listed.
I'm measuring 58 PSI on all tyres, which is in the right area, but I would like to know for sure based on my weight.
I might well contact Continential.

Yes weigh and phone Continental, it’s the best way for you to be sure they will give you the CORRECT info.

Sounds like aftermarket wheels have been fitted, so having tyre pressure in the door jamb would be no good..

Just out of interest, as 255/55 18 are an unusual size for a Motorhome, what is the weight rating on them?

Agreed,Continental are very good and very accurate with their info on pressures.

Wow, nearly £260 each, rated at 120 so should be ok. 58 psi might be fine considering they are a lower profile.

Yes 120, that's 1400KG.

I used the Tyre Safe web site after having our motorhome weighed and the they recommended 50 psi front and 60 psi rears . As a matter of interest I checked with continental and they suggested 45 psi fronts and 55 rears.
I have run with the pressures at 50/60 with no problems apart from a slightly hard ride so I will stick with that for now. I think the small cracks between the treads are fair ware after six years. My tyres are Vanco Camper 215/75 R 16 C (114/116).
