A few months ago Vosa was asked to study the feasibility of changing the MoT testing requirements to a two yearly test, to fall into line with the rest of the EU.
Many arguments have been put forward on both sides
what are your views, I will post a picy soon to demonstrate my view

The whole situation with MOTs are rediculous.

A new car can be driven for three years before it needs one. A rep might drive 150 000 miles in that time.

Older cars not needing one for two years will mean dangerous vehicles being on the road. If anything every six months would be more in order

To my mind that'll mean a whole load of scrapyard refugees get
a stay-of-execution and make the roads a less safe place to be.
Not a nice thought!!!

2 Years is far too long.

I think the current 1year is a fair compromise.

HOWEVER I also think that all cars from new should be MOT'd every year to make our roads a safer place.

Satistics

Statistically, cars are much safer nowadays with very few accidents caused by unroadworthy vehicles, That is the reason for the possible proposed change to 2 yearly intervals between tests.:thumb:
I for one would welcome it as I have my vehicles regularly serviced and the yearly mot is just a pain!:thumb:

What I would like to see is a common EU MOT, one that I could have done anywhere in the EU instead of having to travel back to the UK every 12 months..

Makes sense.
Didn't realise you had to do that.
Is the European version of the MOT so different to ours?
