Hi to the knowledgeable lot!!
I have a August 2015 first registered

Hi to you knowledgeable lot!!
My van is an August 2015 Peugeot 2.2 lt Boxer

The rear view camera works perfectly but is it possible for it to be adjusted to become a rear view mirror i.e. working whilst driving, giving a view of the road?

Secondly how long is the journey from the M25/M20 junction to Dover Port (without any holdups with road works etc)

Off to Europe Tuesday for a few weeks :)

Many Thanks for help

It totally depends on what system it is. If it's factory fitted separate reversing camera and monitor then it probably automatically activates when you engage reverse, I have seen this wired up in 2 ways, power feed from the reversing light or with a separate line from the reverse sensor which tells the device that reverse is engaged and to turn the screen on. If it's a separate monitor then you can fairly easily modify it to be turned on as and when you want it as long as you can get to the wiring and can work out what the relevant wires do.
If it has a power feed from the reversing light then it could simply be a case of running a feed from the fuse box instead. If the power feed is already from the fuse box then simply disconnecting the reversing sensor may be sufficient.
However the other issue is where the camera power feed comes from, the camera that was on our MH when we brought it was powered from the reversing light so unless you were in reverse there was no power to the camera. The cameras I have now are 4 pin cameras so power comes from the monitor PSU.
The set up I have is 2 cameras, one pointing behind, one pointing virtually straight down, the monitor is mounted on the dash and has a power feed from the fuse box (piggy back fuse holder on an ignition switched fuse) and also has a line from the reversing sensor. If I manually turn the monitor on the cameras are switched on and I can toggle between them. If I leave the monitor off it will activate as soon as I select reverse.
If it's one that is built into the head unit screen then that is another kettle of fish, I have looked at one on a friends MH which simply needed the cable from the reversing sensor disconnecting and then you could select Reversing Camera from the touch screen but I would guess that that isn't the case on all of them.

I use my reversing camera as a rear view. I have a back box which blocks the straight down view so have adjusted the camera so it misses the box and gives a partial view of the road behind Just change the wire from the reversing light switch to an ignition controlled feed.

Bought them from the chap who does all the shows.. always has a wee dog on the stand.. Is DT Electronics ?
He only does cameras and monitors.
Not cheap but super reliable

A long time now
I have bought a camera and cable connections from the very chap that Jaws refers to but never got around to fitting it ,so if any body wants it ,its for a waeco perfect view system they have a special cable connection and the camera was going to be fitted either underneath for the waste tap location or on the mirror for continental use its a little tiny one and is only about the size of a 10 p coin ,I think I paid about £50 for the two items, if anybody can use them £20 .
