2004 Swift Sundance
I have two annoying beeping sounds in my MH, and would appreciate some help in finding what they are, and how to stop them please . . .

It's a 2004 Swift Sundance, Fiat Ducato

I have read many online posts regarding beeping sounds, and can't find any that emulate the issues that we have.
It has a Sigma alarm, and an OmniStep electric step fitted.
No tow bar/electrics fitted.
it's definitely not a low/dead leisure battery alarm, or carbon monoxide detector causing the beeps.

First beep comes from the dashboard (somewhere around the radio).
It's loud enough to hear over the sound of the radio, and only happens when driving.
It's an intermittent thing, and may not sound for 20 or so miles, and other times it happens twice in a minute.
As you will appreciate, this is not a sound you want on a 150 mile journey !

The second beep is the one that really bugged me overnight on Saturday (our first outing in the van)
It's a different beeping sound, and seems to be coming from the wardrobe (Says the Mrs).
The fuse box and charger controller live in there, and the water heater tank is in the area below.
This beep went off intermittently for a couple of hours, and then stopped.
I did notice that the charger control box was switched on, and we were not on hook up. Would this have caused this wardrobe beeping sound?
Again, a beeping sound is not what one wants when trying to sleep !

Any pointers and tips will be gratefuly received

Thank you

The second beep could be CO or smoke alarm low battery alerts
Jon
Thank you Jon

It's a rather quiet sound, but very annoying when you're trying to get your head down

We had a beep when driving, it was puzzling to start with, but turned out to be the solar charge controller, which had to be replaced.

The first beep could be an alert from your sat-nav, warning of over speed limit. Mine does it, even if not set on a specific route.

Geoff
Hi Geoff

There is no sat nav fitted (I use a TomTom)

I have one - a now defunct after-market set of reversing sensors occasionally go off, usually when backed up against the fence, but once in a while in moving traffic.

I'd expect something like a CO alarm to give out a loud shrill sound.
It could be your fridge quietly reminding you that its door is still ajar, or one of many other things - even a watch alarm, in a garment, somewhere?
My car "bings" and "bongs" at me all the time but, not having a good ear or memory, I rarely know what it's trying to "tell" me.

Hi, we had a 2003 swift sundance 590 rs (now sold for a American rv) we had a similar intermittent beeping, turned out to be the electric step micro switch, (system thought the step was out, mostly went off when driving on right turns/roundabouts), adjusted the step and no more alarms.

Might be a faulty step retraction microswitch.advising step is out when it's in.
Just a thought.

Could also be the seat belt not connecting properly in its holder causing the warning alarm to be triggered or the handbrake, on, alarm.
Your "tom-tom" can also be set to beep if going over the set limit, as can the speedo setting on the dashboard/button at the end of the turn signal pod

It's not the TomTom, the sound is there when not using it.
The sound is there at low speeds too
I don't think a 2004 Ducato has a speedo limiter setting

I feel my life is being ruled by beeps. Our van is the worst everything beeps. Fridge, seat belts, step, sat nav, inverter, windows, lockers, doors if you have security

I also have a random beep from the dash on occasions. It is the same as the "low" outside temp beep or Parking " lights on beep but nothing is showing & it only does it when moving?

Hi Paul,
This might be worth looking at
on our habitation door , on the main pillar when the door is open
one can see 4 small (5mmDia) brass spring loaded plungers,
which match up with a corresponding 4 brass disc plate on the door
two are for making a circuit when the door is closed (to advise with a beep if not closed properly)
the other two are to advise on the electric step retraction (another beep)
over time when travelling the bleep will sound, and through process of elimination,
have found the cause to be the ends of the brass plungers, and the corresponding discs on the door
do not make good contact and when travelling loose the contact making the circuit hence the bleeps
the answer when it happens (now I know) is a quick clean of the ends of the plungers and brass discs
with some fine emery paper and its good for another 6 months
hope this might help you and possibly other funsters

Have you checked the OmniStep is fully retracted?

I haven't noticed the brass discs, but I take a look.
Given that the bottom of the door doesn't close flush this could be the cause.
I'm fitting a new rubber seal to the door frame at the weekend, and will attempt to adjust the door too.

Hi, the beep coming from the radio is the traffic announce warning, if the radio isnt getting a good enough signal for traffic announcements it beeps at you.
Had the same with my 2003 Autotrail apache drove me bonkers, turn off TA and it'll stop doing it, assuming its the same radio.
Cant help with the other one.
Regards
Bob

If it's a Ducato there is also a speed warning on the dash itself. This is set through the mem button to the right of the steering wheel.

Cheers Bob

I'll check the TA on the radio

It happened to us when the passenger step was out.

If you have a comfortmatic auto gear box you’ll have loads of beeps!

My tracker sends a warning beep to my phone when the van has moved, it can take several miles before it signals. Worth a check if you have a tracker fitted.
