I want to replace my old Cello Traveller tv with something a bit more.. well Smart.

The old Cello is OK, apart from the DVD not working anymore but I feel the need for something that has Apps available such as Netflix or Prime for those rainy days.

Any recommendations around the 19" mark?

Unfortunately it is older than HDMI

ok yeah get a new tv. Someone will be along shortly with some recommendations :)

You can get "SMART" Cello \ Ferguson (same but different brand names) TVs.

I would go for a tv that isn’t smart, & get a Firestick- updates future proof it, & the interface is very easy to use. We have a smart tv at home, but just use a Firestick as it’s so much easier!

I bought. 24” Manta tv and a Firestick.......work well together, and cheaper than a Smart(?) tele!

Thanks for the replies. Turns out my tv does have a hdmi port, :blusher: so feeling a bit dumb, I have ordered a Firestick as advised from the very first reply and others.

You won’t be disappointed as long as you have sorted out the data side of things?

Yes, I have a data plan I barely use on my phone (giffgaff) and a 3 mifi thingy.

the annoying thing with "smart" tv's is they are far from smart, as they use their own system for the operating system. generally android, but you can't update it, therefore failing to keep up with advances.

My expensive samsung is 3 years old and can't update some apps, so we use a firestick, which incidentally is much faster

Yes I noticed that with our old Samsung tv where we used to use an IPTV app which disappeared and wasn't supported anymore after an 'update'. Forgot about that actually, was a bit frustrating at the time as it was a paid app.

Plenty threads on here covering how to get the most out of your firestick.

Yes I'll have a look once I get it and set up, thx.

Funnily enough our 5 or so year old LG downloaded it's latest update last night. (y)

Avtex...not the cheapest but the best...I would say that as have just bought one.

Avtex again for me tried others just not the same viewing, they seem to have the best viewing angle, even tried normal household tv, lg, Phillips etc but no where near as good picture the avtex sound bar is good as well, if you are going yo get the sound bar as well make sure you get the pro version otherwise you will need 2 remotes to adjust the sound.

OK so I did look at the Avtex tv's and they look brilliant but they don't have the Netflix or Amazon Prime apps so as I said earlier I bought a Firestick and I have set it up now and it's all working really well. I can also now set up Plex which is a bonus too.
