Looking for more help please. Ive bought an Avtex tv/dvd/sat with an image 630 aerial but cant get it to switch on from my 12v socket in the van. Connected in the home everything works lovely. Back to van & tried it in another 12v socket but no power to the tv, even tried with the ignition on. Any ideas what i can try next? Not able to connect to mains power at the moment. Thanks

Have you checked to see if the socket is working? Have you turned the habitation side on?

If you have proven that the 12v socket has power out then possibly it's not actually 12v due to a discharged battery?
Check the actual output voltage first as the led in 12v power cables will operate as low as 5v and may be too low for the tv to operate

Check that the inline fuse in the 12v plug, if fitted is not blown.(y)

More than toes wet now!
Is it a 230v or 12v supply you've tried it with in the house?
Does it work with 230v supply in van?

Our Avtex has always been on 12v with no problems what ever even during a 6 month over winter in Portugal. First check that not only is the socket working but also that you are getting 12v at the plug that goes into the telly. It is best if you can check also with something that gives a load on 12v like a bulb to find bad contacts that may allow you to see volts but not carry any current

If you don't already have a digital multimeter, get one to test the voltages at various points in the system, including the output from your leisure battery. You can also use it to check continuity in fuses.

You shouldn't need the ignition or EHU charger on (14v+) to operate a 12v TV.
