If you van doesn’t already have a tv aerial, the trend is for people to use streaming using the internet. In that event, you need to have a router with aerial to receive the data or like us, we use our iphones to receive the data and use the hotspot function to send the data to the tv.
It follows that you’ll also need a tv that will run off 12v. Cello and Avtex are examples of such tv’s but there are others like LG and Samsung that offer 12v tv. The BBC iplayer app gives plenty of free streaming programmes as well as live BBC channels. There are also the other commercial streaming providers like Netflix and Amazon Prime but these are subscription services.
If travelling abroad, if you’ve opted for the aerial option, what you receive will depend on the size of the dish aerial and how far south (or north) you go. You will also need a receiver to decode the signal and send it to your tv.
This is a very rough overview of your main options. There are plenty such discussions in the TV and Satellite forum on this site.

If you have plenty of data I would be tempted to just go for a smart TV or a stick like Roku (I don't do Amazon) allows you to watch live and catch up TV.
We have a Tecso unlimited data sim in a router and it has been working a treat in France for streaming TV.
