We have sat half an hour and just got through check in. It looks like UK control is short staffed......again.

On the updates feed, it says the service is delayed so you might have more waits to come unfortunately.

30 minutes wait ... Shocking ... We waited longer than that for our main course last night mind they did give us a free drink

i wish i had a 30 min delay on the tunnel right now ... we babysat last night and were up before five am .....

The 30 minutes was to the first check in, another 30 to French passport ( didn’t check as usual) then a long wait to UK border control. The trains are delayed only because of the border controls. Kettles on and it doesn’t matter, we will still be delayed at the other end.

Past through Calais Border Control Thursday pm they did not inspect van and neither at Dover although there were plenty of staff.
We always allow an extra hour for checks which usually means we get put on an earlier crossing.

Being delayed is part of being British ... Stiff upper lip n'all that kinda stuff

Never had a delay on the tunnel, last week was the closest, we actually had to wait for our booked one on time.

When we came over late September, we were booked for an 8.20pm train. We arrived pretty early at 4.00pm so had a long wait ahead.
This was our first time travelling UK to France direction but we've done it the other way 3 or 4 times.
So, I just assumed that the process would be much the same at each end, in France you go through ticket booth, same in UK, then you go through customs and into waiting area. Not in the UK though, waiting area and then customs.
Well, I thought, this is a bit boring parked by these shops etc, so let's get the customs bit done.
Off we go, through customs but hey, where's the waiting area? Oops. Arrived at the booth and the bloke says, "blimey, you're a bit early". I then explained my error and he lined us up in a queue and we left on the 5.20pm train........result! And we didn't pay any extra.
