Hi wednesday morning went to put water heating on but went from green light to red straight away and did not get the usual click from the gas solonoid opening, i have checked fuse and had a look at pcb but all looks ok trying to test the electric solonoid but found it has 3 wires so not sure why 3. depending on which of the 3 contacts i test i get either around 340 ohms or about 16 ohms i thought solonoids would be over 1000 ohms but not sure why it has 3 wires, anyone know about these thing
Thanks

I’m lost on the 3 wires and ohms! Sorry, but found that low voltage from the leisure batteries (as well as leaving the vent cover on 🤦‍♂️) gives me the same results

thanks but voltage ok and cover off, not getting a click from gas solonoid when turning on

Is it worth giving it a tap, like on a 3 way fridge? Clearly I’m not the one to help you but hopefully this will bring it up the list for the evening 🤞

thanks, did try a tap but still nothing assumed gas valve was stuck but thinking coil not working now

Have you given it a good blow through the external exhaust? I know mine is a bugger for it, especially if it's not been used for a while.

It's all clean inside, gas valve is not opening for some reason probably a faulty coil on solonoid

Have you removed the external vent cover ? Mine won't work on gas unless cover is off

I know this might seem silly but does it work on electric? Also is there water in the tank it could be the bi metallic cut out kicking in

yes works fine on electric water full and no air its the gas valve not clicking open for some reason and seems to be the coil for the solonoid hence my question re resistance and not expecting 3 wires

Bit of an update, subject to a longer test in the field, a new wiring harness has got it working, all combinations of the wires to solonoid on new harness give an ohms reading of virtually zero and also wires to the temperature sensors/thermistors also zero where on the old harness they were well over 1000 ohms, so not sure if they were faulty and allowed an overheat or just coincidence, although boiler seems to be working ok and cutting in and out at various temperatures for the 55 degrees we normally run it at water doesnt seem as hot, maybe the new sensors or the new thermal paste for fitting them to side of boiler have altered the sensing of temperature,
so now planning a couple of nights closer to home to see how it all goes,

Had same issue and throws up fault on Truma E525 . Van only 3 months old so a bit annoying . Works fine on electric and electric fix switches to gas or mixer but not gas alone !!
Currently being tested and apparently out service centre says it’s a regular fault with truma. Testing shows it to the fan 🤷‍♂️
