Malibu I500
Hi wonder if anyone could help I have just purchased a Malibu I500 with the Truma system everything is working but the heating system & hot water it come up with fault ES17H looked this up on their sight fault code #17 say's summer mode with empty water container. Remedy Switch off & allow to cool. fill boiler with water but water for habitation is full. Anyone with ideas?

When you say the water for the habitation is full do you mean the tank or have you turned the pump on and bled the system through to all the taps, hot and cold.

Have you turn a hot tap on, does water come out? would need pump/12v turning on, on mine the system is pressurized but you have to get air out first by opening taps (all of them inc. shower) to both hot and cold, also some systems have a draincock on boiler, make sure its closed if you have one

It seems you have tried to heat the water, but without filling the boiler first. Prime system as above replies - this will take some time as you need to fill boiler with 10 litres of water, then pipes from boiler to sinks, turn off inet control panel to clear fault code, then turn on hot water. 👍🏻

p.s. make sure you remove the erm removable cover off the heater outlet vent as well

Hi thanks for this will now try this again but I did drain a little out of the dump valve just to check

Are you sure the fault code isn't E517H, which is a different fault?,

E517 indicates a gas supply fault. If you Google “Truma E517” you will get a number of links including explanations and videos on how to reset. I would provide direct links but I am currently low on data.

Most Truma heaters will run with the hot water side empty so you can use the van over the winter without having to drain down each time.
