im a not so newbie
I just read someone had posted up that a Truma heater on EHU doesn’t useca stat to control the temperature.

If this is the case would the heater just boil itself like a kettle.

I haven’t got my instructions with me so can’t check atvthe mo.
Info just sounded wrong, any ideas?

Also they said on gas it is controlled by stat.

As you say. It must be controlled via a stat, otherwise it would boil.

Ours certainly appears to be controlled.

We have just completed a 9 week tour of Spain and France with the water heater in use almost continuously on EHU where we had it.

No problems experienced at all.

Ours gives a choice of 40 60 or boost but boil itself dry isn’t an option.

then they were wrong..

there is a lot of wrong information on forums.. and some verging on downright dangerous

always read the manual

Mine, in an auto trail is 40 or 60. Two positions on the switch.
Works perfectly, but needs gas if you want a shower, otherwise spot on

The Truma 6E in our previous van worked off the stat whether you had it on gas, electrics or both. Mind you on electrics alone it was very slow to warm anything up.

Thanks for the replies, that’s why I like this forum. You get info not bs, well most of the time :)

I had one of those self doubt moments

Our Truma set up shows

Eco
Full
Boost

Presumably equivalent to the 40/60 posted above.

They are not completely wrong although I absolutely agree about reading the manual.

When the truma is set for water heating it is controlled by the stat to 40 or 60, depending on what is set.

But if the water is not switched on but the heating is, then the water still heats up and in this situation it is not controlled by the stat (although the heating is controlled by the room stat)

Boiler also has a temperature stat wired directly to the control board , irrespective of what is selected it won't overheat ..
