Hi all! I cross my fingers we have some QBE Truma Boiler experts on here! Pulling our hair out! We've just purchased a Rapido, which we love - apart from the wretched boiler! It's costing us a fortune! It works on both heat and water on electric and electric and gas - but faults on gas only for hot water and heating. It starts up fast - I think on the 4kw side, once the boiler is hot it reduces down to the 2kw, I think and fails every time! The red codes alternate between LLSSLSLS fault code 202 and SLLLSSSS fault code 112 - so, something to do with the gas! Spoken with Truma several times and lots of suggestions! Before we bought it has 2 new elements fitted in August. When we purchased the van, the whole system was dead and and a useless engineer told us it needed a new PCB board (£345) - so the boiler has lights on now and is up and working on electric and gas and electric. Since then, as suggested a new gas regulator and all new gas seals (£50)- still no different. Then Truma suggested the main gas valve (solenoid, I think) fitted today (£150) - no difference! It still will not work on gas alone! We're now in France and going crazy - now seeking an 'expert' over here! Have YOU any useful ideas???? TiA

have they tested the low gas setting,it sounds ok in max mode and then when it modulates the lower gas burner pressre it drops out because its to low? maybe worcester's used to do that.

Strangely enough - we've actually ad 3 engineers look at it - varying from £55 to £75 - but not one of them actually tested the gas pressure? From what you're saying, they should have tested the gas pressure at max and min settings? But we can't get it to stay on for more than 2 minutes on just gas!!

Is it staying on gas max until it slows down?If so it will modulate to a small flame pressure that needs to be checked we always put it up by .5 of a m/bar on low flame as they would go out sometimes.

Yes! Cuts out instantly to fault code after the initial roaring stops - Truma says on gas it starts on the 4kw side, then drops to the 2kw site- hence them saying it was the main gas valve - which we've now replaced....

Without seeing it could be a few things, would be checking the flue ways burner pressures etc, also if its got a flame sensing prob change that

If you've "just purchased it" Take it back and tell them to bloody well fix it.

HandyAndy - we'd like to! But bought via Motorhome Depot - no warranty! They are aware of the problem and that is far as it goes.
Matt34 - so, hopefully the French Truma service centre will be able to check the gas burner pressures?? We've checked the flu- inside and outside pipes, can't see any holes....

check the fsd/ffd as well as if no flame is being sensed it will shut off

Fsd? What and where is that? The boiler deffo lights and runs for 2 minutes on full throttle - cuts down to lower throttle then dies....

ahh ok if it runs for 2 minutes not a flame sensor,i would go with pressure or 2nd solenoid maybe,if you had a gas engineer doing it why havent they compleated the job?

Em - partner gave in and fitted the main valve (solenoid) - had 3 useless and costly so called Truma engineers so far - nonr could fix it and spent most of their time texting mates for advise - at our expense! We're now in France and visiting a Truma Service placs near Le Mans on Monday. Weve spent over 600 quid already and no further forward! We're now at our wits end and thinking a brand new boiler for £1800 may be more efficient mentally and maybe financially! But, we're certain it's only a stupid small thing - else it wouldn't work on electric and electric/gas combination - water gets red hot!

i check pressures,i would of hoped they already have done that !

You may have a problem with overheating. Our boiler was under the bed and accessed from the garage. It was in a sealed enclosure. It kept cutting out after a couple of minutes when the blower was at its fastest. Turned out that boiler was getting too hot because of the enclosure. Put in a load of the round vents in the top and sides of the enclosure and it was then OK.

Good thinking! Ours in beneath the kitchen units and seems to have loads of air space around it. The van is 9 years old and we seem to have bought it 'duff'- surely, if air flow is a problem, it would have been a problem this past 9 years for the previous owner?

Hi Ive got the same problem fault code slllssss haven't been able to fix, did you ever get to bottom of it?

I've had a new gas valve fitted worked for a day then sooted on low rate now won't work.

Thinking on from that are all the outlet vents connected & ducted away from the boiler. A few years ago a couple of PVC manufacturers were only connecting 2 of the 4 outlets and they had problems with the boilers overheating.

hi had similar problem a couple of years ago boiler would start but roaring very strong flame then cutout was a new 13 kg bottle changed to ba 9 kg one worked ok turned out the 13kg gas bottle had been over pressurisedwhen gas flow was to high and tripped the regulator because gas flow was to high

First up, get to a registered TRUMA agent/dealer in Germany. Not any old motorhome dealer.

We had same problems last year whilst in Ladenburg Germany, get hold of a Truma agent, they will fix it. Ours was gas pressure and we had a new Truma Duo regulator fitted.
First thing he checked was gas pressure at cooker, which was low, we hadn't realised it was low till they changed the regulator and then it was like a jet rocket after that. Good luck
