Hi all, was just flicking through the instruction manual PDF and started reading the parts regarding the heating/hot water control panel. It states that if I wish to use the heating, I should first remove the "chimney cap" however it fails to explain what and where this is?? The van is a 19 year old Burstner with the Trumatic C 3402 (i think!). Any ideas??

Odd. Our Trumatic s3002 should only works with a cowl. And a different one when driving - which I haven’t got but luckily don’t need 😳

However, the Truma ultrastore water heater has a vent cover that has to be removed when on gas.

Hopefully someone with a better match of model types can clarify.

If the exhaust is through the side of the van it is a balanced flue and doesn't have a cap.

The C3002 is a fire not a Combi boiler.
Oops. Thanks for the redirect.
I was optimistic that info on cowls would be interchangeable.
Sounds like maybe the OP’s user manual wants the water heater cap/vent cover removed but the name “chimney cap” is confusing.

I've taken a quick screenshot of the relevant section of the manual. Lenny HB I'll try and look at the ad pictures again to see if I can identify the boiler exhaust location. Hopefully it isn't on the roof as the van doesn't have a ladder fitted which would make roof access awkward to say the least!!

Thanks Lenny HB, I've seen that vent on a number of vans we have viewed and knew it was the boiler vent, but guess i didn't connect the dots between the two items. I'm guessing that as long as I have this side-type exhaust vent, I can safely disregard all mention of "removing chimney caps"??

Not quite so. I have the circular side vent and there was a twist and turn cap on it when I bought the camping car. If I try to start the heater (water or space) then the boiler trips out.
