I’m a newbie
Has anyone come across a problem where the hot air barely blows through when working off the electric but is fine on the gas ?

We started with the boiler not working at all on the electric setting, took it in and it needed a new circuit board £365. Water heats up great now but when we come to put the heating on nothing !!

Took it back to repair place and no faults are showing on the circuit board, they called Truma today who have said there are two elements in the boiler, and one will have blown which is why when it’s on the gas the combustion element is pumping the heat from the gas out, but when on the electric if it’s blown it won’t draw the power to the fan to pump the heat out 🤔

solution a new element, but they only sell them in pairs so £675 to strip it down and fit a new one !!!

I am in despair that will be £1,000 repairing the boiler in a motorhome we only brought in March that had a habitation check done on it that should have picked this up !!!

Any ideas on how I might get this done cheeper ?

I changed the elements in my Truma , fiddly job but a competent diy'er could do it.

Why bother?
One of my elements has failed, so I just run it on gas. Electric heating is poor anyway, and we have only ever used it to maintain heat, no get to heat. Many many boilers don‘t even have the electric option.

I'm assuming, since it was bought in March and as you haven't bothered to return it to the dealer under warranty you must have bought privately?

Yes we brought it privately so little we could do !!

You sound like more than someone handy with DIY , I wouldn’t know where to begin !!

Can anyone recommend a trusted workshop I could get a second opinion from around the West Midlands, East Midlands area.
Thanks

When our element went it blew the circuit board as well so both had to be replaced. As for expecting it to be checked on habitation check, unless it’s written down that it was actually checked then no it was not checked.

Perhaps save on the cost of repairs and if you haven’t already got them buy refillable gas cylinders instead. The cost of running on gas will be reduced and the heating performance will be much better. If you really want to use mains electricity an electric fan heater might be an alternative but best to get one with a safety cut out in case it gets knocked over.
