🙂. This is a question about doors...... Our hab door tends to slam shut if there is much of a wind getting behind it on the hinge side. It's supposed to stay open with one of those friction clip type things that I think are pretty standard. Just not strong enough to hold the door against the wind. Looking for any ideas for a solution to the problem. Obviously we can just shut the door if the wind gets up but I'd prefer a fix of some sort.

One of these on the side of the van and a bit of soft thin rope or a bungee tied between this and the door. These are also good for when you can't put the awning feet on the ground. I got similar ones cheap off ebay.

Same problem, and it's a pain if the fly screen is closed.

I use a long thin bungie on which I have put rubbet sleeveing on the hooks.
Loops over the wing mirror and onto the internal door handle.
Works a treat.

We got a box of different length bungees from Screwfix which have a plastic clip end instead of a hook. Just clipped the two longest together and then clipped one end to the door mirror and the other to the hab door internal handle. Works a treat.

I replaced my door retaining clip a few weeks ago as the wind was slamming it closed.
Stays open now.
The clips do wear with age.

Quick and simple solution is take the keep of the stay off and then clip into retainer on door then drill hole through both and refit stay then when door needs holing back slide a small wire tent peg through the hole👍

There are metal retaining catches which have an arm on the door which slots into an aperture on the body part on the MH wall and drops down into the narrow part. The arm has to be physically lifted to the wider part of the slot to release the door to close it.

Interesting. Do they have a name? Do you have a link?

I have a similar setup to pjay. The only difference is I have a sail track slide on one end that fits into the alloy channel that holds my thermal screen as my mirrors are at the top of my windows. If the weather is cold enough to deploy the screen, it's too cold to have the door open.

This type of thing

Yes that is the sort of thing. Often found on commercial vehicle doors, so why do MH builders not fit them instead of plastic clips which rot in UV?

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions/ideas. Not sure what I will do yet, but plenty of options now. (y)

A few Motorhomes use them Concorde for one.

I replaced my plastic one a couple of months ago, it's a lot better now but if it's windy still use a flat bungee with plastic hooks from door handle to front wheel.

Some of the options look a bit untidy and overly complicated . I have fitted a stainless steel sprung clip which I will post photo of,very pleased with result.
