Just working out the covid regulations now France is amber, I think these are:

For entry to France
A NHS Vaccination Certificate (Paper or App on phone)
A declaration of no covid symptoms (On line form I believe)

For entry back to UK
A pre departure test taken within 3 days of departure (I think this can be a lateral flow test and I guess they are available at French chemists?)
A PCR test 2 days after arrival in UK booked through a uk private company (£ Ouch)
A pre completed passenger locator form.

Wondered if anyone else is looking into this and if so have I missed anything or got anything wrong!

I appreciate there is always the possibility of France going Red whilst we are there - but if that happens presumably we could drive into Spain or Holland for 10 days and then get a ferry back from there.

To my knowledge you got everything right including the "ouch"

Before you book your 2 day tests I would highly recommend that you check the companies reviews on Google- I have had an issue with my 8 day test and the company will not answer the phone, answer my emails and my live chat from yesterday morning at 8:30 has not been responded to.

I have actually contacted my MP regarding this matter as the company are recommended by the Govt, but on Google reviews there are many, many people claiming it is a fraud - they take peoples money and do not provide a service (there are some reputable companies with good reviews)

You need a pcr test witin 48 hours before departing for France as well don't you
Not from 18th July.

Travellers who are fully vaccinated do not need an essential reason to travel to France and do not need to self-isolate on arrival. From 18 July, fully vaccinated adults no longer need to present evidence of a negative test result before travel. Fully vaccinated travellers will need to present the following documents:

  • a completed ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) form self-certifying they are not suffering from symptoms associated with coronavirus and have not been in contact with confirmed cases in the preceding fortnight. This can be found on the French government’s website
  • proof of vaccination status

I've had the same issue with the company that I used last month,. Still waiting for the day 8 test results despite proof of postage showing they have received it. I have asked for all of my money back as they didn't provide the service I paid for. No replies to emails or calls so .... card card recharge or County Court action followed by bailiffs if they don't cough up!!

We are going next week and deciding weather to buy the kits here in uk and take them or get them done at a French Chemist - We dont have any French residency/property just visiting, is it easy to go into a chemist and get the Lateral flow tests done and proof for tunnel/customs?
I have looked at the SanteFR website which shows where tests can be done but these seem to be more like labs and for example the one in Montruil only opens 10 am to 12 am which does not sound like a high street chemist?

Do you mean Montreuil?
You can find testing places by town on the map link on this website........

or by department here:

That's great thanks!

I did mean Montreuil and the second link you sent shows a chemist near there at Nouville-sous Montreuil so we can use that or if we stop at the campsite in Nuufchatel-en-Bray there are a few in the surrounding towns so that should be fairly easy to arrange. I had been looking at a different part of Sante.fr and just coming up with pcr testing sites!

Thanks for your help - we have decided to go without pre-arranging tests and will use this website to find a chemist for the antigen and book on line a 2 day test a few days before we return to get the code for the passenger locator form. Unless the rules have all changed before we come back in September!

Yes, I have used that before, may use the campsite for wi-fi as much as anything, I prefer to book things on line with my old lap top as my smartphone does not have a very smart owner!

The day 2 test on return to UK, can that be booked on return journey whilst still in France ? I understand a booking number is required for the Passenger locator form. Just not sure when it needs booking

We had ours no problem, tracked all the way. If they ever get them or if they test them I don’t know, or care to be honest.

Our delivery was via DPD so informed at every step.

Did you have any difficulty booking your test with expert medical? I've put details in twice but nothing appears in my basket!!

If you are fully vaccinated and have the NHS certificate to prove it, then you upload a copy of these documents to the chunnel Web site along with copies of the details page of all your passports and the "honour form". We went through 3 weeks ago having had the now expensive and unnecessary PCR test. No checks were made at all (apart from is your gas off and are you carrying any firearms). According to an article I read just yesterday No tests are necessary on return just a "recommendation".

The Government website says a £500 fine if you return without tests. They recommend you order the tests for day 2 of return before you go. My confusion is whether you can take tests from the UK to use for the return trip, or got to get them done in France. Also, my wife works at a Nursing Home so will be tested when she returns to work on day 2. I guess I will have to pay for a private one anyway 🙄.

You do not upload a copy of vaccination you just confirm the travelling person is double jabbed, but you may need to show proof at the border.

This is correct, I went through on Monday morning, prepare for queues at french border control. You just present passport and evidence of double jab. Top tip for the last bit, print a copy from your nhs app, it is emailed to you, and hand it over with your passport. The queue was exasperated by people having to get there phones out log in to the app locate the evidence and hand it over, honestly it speeds the process up having a hard copy.
