My sister just had her solar extended and they moved the MPPT closer to the batts. Wouldnt work ? she called me and told me she had extended the original cable from where it entered the mppt with 6mm with another 10feet of 6mm so the MPPT was closer to the batteries. While doing it they decided to add a trip switch on the pos and the neg like the one below so they could isolate when working on it.

I told her to get the volt meter out and check where the current fails, and it was after the neg trip switch. they connected the 2 cables together without the trip and the MPPT works fine,?

Faulty switch or does adding a trip to the neg not work?

Sorry can't specifically answer your question but I have these fitted to my solar plus lead and also one to isolate battery and I do find them to be very tempremental to reset... sometimes they need to be turned off and on a few times before working..

One switch in either cable will isolate the panel. It appears the installer is adding unnecessary expense by putting one in each cable.
And yes, if it works without the switch its a faulty switch.

I wouldn’t bother with the temperamental breaker, that’s only going to operate as a switch anyway, just use MC4 connectors to join the 6mm extended cables.

If you want to disconnect the solar panel just unplug the MC4 connectors.......

Yeah but they're a s*d to get apart if you haven't got the right tool!

I just put in a blade fuse holder in the positive wires, easy to take fuse out and put back and you can see at a glance if it has blown or not so can help you determine if you have a problem if it has which you can then investigate.

Maybe they just used the fuses/breakers as joins when moving the controller??----- I did that on the flair😊

Squeeze the sides with your fingers and pull apart.....I’ve never needed the tool.

Yeah the fuse holder is great, you just end up with more joints and most come with short tails less than 6mm2
