Hi All
As previously mentioned, we are new to MH, and don't yet have a MH, just searching.
April next year we are going to Portsmouth to see a show and hubby has stated he quite fancies looking into going over to France in our new MH, (as we'll defo have one by then ?) so need some advice regards taking our dog. I think she has to have a passport of sorts, is this straightforward to do and again need to factor in the costs.
Thank you lots in advance for help and support.
Just to add.... Yeah I'm now paid up member ??, committed

The hard and fast rules about taking a dog into the EU is all over the place at the moment due to the dreaded "B" word. For now, you will need the Dog to have a microchip - should have one already by now, Rabies vacination and then your vet can issue the "Pet Passport". Cost varies considerably and I cannot remember what ours cost. We had a deal with Rabies jab and passport in one deal. See website below for more onfo

I'm off to Ireland with my dog next month, because of the B word, I've had the rabies blood test done (£100) together with the UK pet passport (+ Rabies jab). but if we are out, I will also have to get an EU passport, as they will not accept a UK one by then. It's a long process in that you get the Rabies Jab, wait a month, then the blood test, then 4 months before going to EU. If we are still in, you just need the UK pet passport + Rabies jab.

For full info on taking your dog to France, go to the DEFRA website for accurate details. Many people will give you advice but DEFRA are the government dept and will have the latest info. At the moment the requirements will depend on Brexit but it is possible that it might take at least 4 months. Expect costs to be c£200. In any case your dog will require to be chipped and to have rabies vaccination.

If you decide to go ahead, come back and ask for more advice on the practicalities of travelling with a dog.

A couple of small errors in this. It is a 3 month wait after a successful blood test. If the test fails, it has to be repeated and the 3 months starts from that date. If still in the EU, there is 21 day wait after the rabies vac.

If there is a no deal Brexit, even with a passport issued in another EU country, a health certificate will be required to travel from the UK to the EU.

Hi guys
Thank you so much for all the valuable advice and replies.
Omg ? it's a bit of a nightmare.
Well as it won't be till April it should be a done deal one way or the other! Lol
Just have to keep checking.
Hate the thought of my princess having to have blood tests, ? but she's needless to say chipped and up to date with her jabs
Thanks again
