Good evening all.
Ive just joined the website 10 minutes ago.
Id like to ask if many motorhome owners are considering traveling to France Italy or Spain during September. If so what insurance are they using ?

Thank you

Beth

Hello, I was really looking for personal insurance recommendations, do the insurance have to include cover for covid19? Im also very keen to find out if other people are still traveling to Italy Spain and France, or those that a currently touring.

Thanks

Unlikely to get Covid-19 cover unless travel approved by Foreign Office, otherwise it's at your own risk

I'm sure that plenty of personal insurance will cover you, we've got Sainsbury's insurance, but new policies are appearing daily.

I believe Avanti will cover you but you need to ask for specific medical cover for travel against FCO recommendations.

I believe battlefield ins only cover Covid medical for up to 59 yrs old.

Thank you,
I'm a little unsure about traveling to Spain and France and wonder wether I should wait until next year. Do anyone know if many the members of this website are currently in Spain France and Italy , I would really like to hear from them , just to get so idea of what it's like and if it's worth going. We started to travel in April to see family in southern

Beth1 you've used up your 5 Free posts now. You'll need to pay the Annual fee of £15 if you want to ask more questions. It'll be well worth the money.

There are definitely members travelling abroad but whether they have travel insurance or not I've no idea. We decided against travelling to France because of having no medical insurance. Our insurance wouldn't cover us because of the FCO advice of not travelling.

We're currently in Italy but came out before any UK 'only travel if you're getting stir crazy' instructions so hoping to wing it if I need to make a claim - sorry not much help but the weather's great, unlike the sostas

In Italy at the moment. Everything is fine. Not many brits out here. Plenty of spaces on campsites. With regards to covid the rate today is fractionally below the uk. We are hoping to stay here until the end of October if it enters the quarantine list then we will leave a little earlier and stay in Germany for a couple of weeks it Germany remains off the list, thereby avoiding quarantine.

To say I'm confused by all this covid rules would be an understatement. If I understand it, if you holiday in France then cross in to a country with no embargo to fly home you don't have to quarantine?

If you MoHo in Germany, for example, to get home you have to drive through France, Belgium or Holland for tunnel or ferry, so do you have to quarantine on your return?

Hymie.

There's loads of posts on here asking the same thing. Have a browse of peoples experiences. We are touring France, Italy, Spain, Portugal. Insurance purchased when fco advice was allowing travel to France and Spain so we are covered for the rest of our trip (8 months) Portugal covered currently as fco is allowing travel there. No covid cover but happy to take the risk as we're very careful and can use ehic till end December and we are low risk due to age and fitness/health. You can buy insurance from specialists to cover you even when fco advises against travel. I don't remember who but others on here have bought it. Portugal is also selling health insurance to encourage British tourists.

If you are oh holiday in France and cross into Germany and fly home you have to quarantine for 14 days, unless you were in Germany for say 2 days, then you would Q12 days. Basically you need to be out of France (or a naughty country) for 14 days before returning home, if you go to a “safe” country after, that is removed from the 14days, and days remaining are Q at home.

if you are Mohoing in Germany you can come home via France and Belgium and don’t have to Q IF you abide by the rules. Don’t get out your vehicle and mix with other people. And get the tunnel home as in the tunnel you don’t get out your vehicle.

It is really quite simple. Follow the written rules,

We're on our 6th day in Provence. Used our normal insurance after tel discussion with them confirmed cover. We agreed to waiver cancellation cover as that's negligible anyway. Nationwide. Cancelled 2 hols, weren't doing a third!!

I’m in Spain but my travel insurance is invalid as Spain is a non essential travel country

I wonder if you go from France ( on the list) to Italy ( not on the list) back to France, Spain( on the list ) Portugal ( not on the list) then back to Spain, whether some insurance companies might take a dim view of it.

Can't see why. I took out insurance for all of Europe but with the understanding that if i travelled in a country not allowed at the time of purchase i wouldn't be covered. I haven't done this so I'm only in countries where I have cover. As the fco don't advise cutting your trip short and leaving the affected country my insurance say they will cover me for Spain and France till the end of my trip.

I agree but I also don't generally trust insurance companies

Have you got your Eu health insurance cards? I believe they are valid 'til 31st December 2020

We’re in France right now. The site is very quiet and everyone everywhere are wearing masks. More so than in the UK. Just a pain returning to quarantine. Hey-ho!

I am totally confused by all the new rules of quarantine. I was born in the United Kingdom...... United seems to be a thing of the past. Wales, Scotland and N Ireland seem incapable of following a single advisory plan if there is one.
