We are booked on the Eurotunnel on December 29th
I am trying to get my head around the extra certificate I will need for entry into france and also if I need anything to enter Spain
Struggling to get any phone numbers to talk to someone for advice at Eurotunnel
Any information will be much appreciated

We re on it tomorrow.

Not really a problem if you are vaccinated. We have allready uploaded vaccination passes from NHS app. Got to fill in the sworn statement to arrive from a Amber country

And taking a test at Asda Oxford this afternoon has to be certified and not more than 48 hours old, and got to pass so fingers crossed.

I'm not expecting to need anything to cross into Spain at this time, but it may yet change.

I’ve not looked at the processes really but if travelling from one country to another i.e France to Spain don’t you need to check if you have to have a test to enter and also a PLF for Spain, even if entering by road?

It would seem illogical if the rules did not apply equally e.g air/ferry/road for you to have them even if there are no likely checks. I personally have been stopped in Spain close to the border at Somport some years ago and again on a minor unmanned border road between Slovenia & Italy once, so despite Schengen it does happen. Police both times.

No. The land crossing between France remains an anomaly and the Spanish Health Declaration refers only to Air & Sea Travel. Proff of Vaccination is sufficient at this stage; even more bizarre, an EU Citizen, or their family member, can enter Spain using a 'COVID Recovery' certificate if they have been infected. A Third Country national cannot! So, if I had had COVID and was travelling solo, I would need to produce a Vaccination Passport; were I to be in the same physical condition, but travelling with my Irish Passport toting wife, I could just produce a COVID Recovery certificate!

Drove across the border at Irun today, no checks.
Just roadworks after the toll booths on the Spanish side causing havoc.
Yep did the same yesterday at the Med end. No checks at all only road works where they are dismantling the toll booths! On the tunnel Saturday and only wanted the NHS vaccination status and the Lateral flow test certificate to check negative! Waved declaration of honour away , though still best to take one! Also allow a bit more time for check in as our pre supplied docs ( left test certificate) hadn't been verified so we and many others had to que to have them manually verified before traveling through passport / immigration control!

Lasttrip for us was Nov 2019 travelling south, and the roadworks approaching St Jean de Luz were less adavanced so the traffic queus were causing havoc on the French side! Do you prefer French gridlock or the Spanish version, or is it literally a result of moving the blockage further up or down the line? :giggle:

I came through the tunnel in 5 December and crossed into Spain on the 7th. My documents were already uploaded so no additional checks at Folkestone (except on my cat’s paperwork!) - and absolutely nothing at the France/Spain border: slowed down at the toll barrier didn’t even stop.

Daylight robbery :xangry::xangry: that makes £150 just for covid tests,Mortons rake comes into mind, legal robbery

It shouldn’t be a problem once in Europe as I’ve been driving between Portugal and Germany each spring and the reverse journey every autumn since Covid-19 raised its head without any checks.

No problem driving France to Spain. Endless problems getting paperwork for France due to our ferry to Spain being cancelled. Brittany ferries incredibly unhelpful. A moaning story for another time.
Pcr not needed for France, just rapid antigen test.

We came through the tunnel this morning. No problems but checking every single vehicle, don't know what for, only thing they wanted to see with us was check the gas was off. French customs wanted to check every bit of paper especially test results.

We’ve just done this. At Spanish border (Irun side) there was some ‘control’ but it may have just been random stops. Traffic built very quickly and then everything was released. First time we were asked for ‘COVID pass’ was at the bar on our campsite. On your way back make sure your passport is stamped on exit. Lot of anecdotal stuff about people not doing this and being ‘treated’ as overstayers on next trip as they don’t appear to have left the Schengen. Have a good time.

Just been on the BBC…..France may introduce new travel restrictions for travellers from the UK soon. Could include ban on non essential travel. 🤷‍♂️

France have literally just announced that Brits have to isolate on entry into France
French gov spox confirming new UK/France travel restrictions, from Saturday:
-pre-departure test taken within 24 hours
-Reasons for visiting limited to essential for French nationals/residents, i.e. not tourism.
-7-day isolation, lifted after 48 hours with -ve test on arrival

Unfortunately unless you can travel tomorrow Friday you will not be able to enter France for tourism reasons and it looks as if the Tunnel is fully booked tomorrow Friday. I wish you well and do hope you get away, I would try Brittany Ferries Portsmouth to Santander
