Has anyone recently travelled from Dover to Calais by ferry. Did the French authorities check your fridge and food cupboards for any meat or dairy products.

Yes and no!
Travelled July. Papers checked Dover. Waved through Calais. Are they interested in contents of fridge? Not that I have heard of.
We have been on Eurotunnel 3 times this year and not once been checked, only interested if gas is off
