Reading the blog on alternative locations outside of the EU is exactly what we are planning for a extended holiday next year. With all the new travel restrictions brought about by brexit I would like to share our itinary with fellow members just check that we have understood what we can and can't do.

leave UK around 20.1.22
Travel France,Italy,Sciccily and mainland Greece.
after 85 or so days cross into Albania and then other Balkan countries.
after 3_or more months cross into Hungary,Austria and return home via France.

can anyone confirm that we have grasped this correctly please
thank you

I believe your thinking is correct. However, I am not sure I would be spending the time in Albania.
But
That's based purely on here say and no evidence...

Sounds ok. If you stay long enough in the Balkans, (in other words, so that 180 days had elapsed since your first entry into Schengen), you could get another 90 odd days in Schengen before returning.

Albania isn't bad. I've been twice. It's like most countries, just be sensible about where you leave the van. Not many facilities though.

Thank you, much appreciated. I'm open Grant advice as never visited the Balkans.
