I've used my local main dealer for servicing my Mk 7 Transit MH over the last 9 years and have always been somewhat surprised by how relatively inexpensive it is compare to some of other Funsters' tales of woe with Fiats etc. My last interim service was only £189 which included an MOT (no advisories) which compared with £345 (no MOT) for my Mazda CX3 and £112 for my Honda 125 (yes, it is an expensive month!). Am I just fortunate or is this the norm?
In the 9 years I've had the van it has never let me down and when the engine mounting broke when my son in law had borrowed it, it was under £230 to repair including the tow charge to the garage. OK, so Ford Transits aren't "cool" and tend to go walkabout from driveways, but when I keep thinking of changing it I just think "why" as I like the layout, its relatively inexpensive to run and I love my "home from home".

Are transits chain and not cam belt, this would help keep costs down.

I had one for 8 years and used the main dealer for servicing found the charges reasonable

Agree, our Transit costs roughly £200 per year for the service, but as it's serviced at a main dealer you get Ford breakdown and recovery thrown in at no cost.

Now that I didn't know!
I thought they stopped that a couple of years ago it used to include European cover as well. I think the same seeing the other threads we seem to get off lightly on service costs.

Certainly last year on the service I still got the breakdown stuff. MH going for it's service in April so I will find out then. I always also had the breakdown arranged with the MH insurer, just in case !
