Enging battery dead when tried start . Running 6 weeks ago. Going to change as it’s on the way out, .and now probably a liability.

Van is a Chassaon 510 Ford Transit MK8

I am sure I can undo all the fixings, lift the seat etc.

However is there anything I am don’t know about?

Watched a video u tube , american chap who plugged in a power unit into the obd .
Do I need to do this ?

Have you got those torc sockets as I think that’s what they use to secure the seat, not good old nuts and bolts. Haha

It helps to keep the electrics powered up BUT it also means the Pos battery lead remains live at all times so extra care is needed.
Once removed from the battery place it in a thick plastic bag or rubber glove and tape it in.

There may be a remote battery post under the bonnet for jump starting, connect your 12v power supply to that as you won't have a lead for the OBD socket.
Failing that you could use the cig lighter socket but will probably need the ignition on and the load on the temporary 12v supply will be much higher.

Will be interested to hear how you get on ours is 5 years old this year and I,m thinking of changing the cab and hab batteries before they pack in rather than after and maybe trying to squeeze in 2 hab batteries (I thought if I ordered a new one I could trial fit it with the old one next to it before ordering the second)
