I have been 'volunteered' to transfer old data from a very old XP machine to a brand new Windows 8.1.
I know that the pics and word documents are easy enough, but what about outlook files? Not sure as to the version of Outlook or if the elderly owner can remember his passwords,
My plan is:
Take an external hard drive, back up the pics and then transfer to new pc
Copy all folders with documents and do the same,
Copy/export the PST files, and then import them back into the new PC. Will that also transfer the passwords etc?
Oh yes, is there an easy way to prevent that annoying pop up window on the left hand side of Windows 8.2, the owner of the new pc is 82 and is happy with XP..
Ant other suggestions?
