I have an easy load motorcycle trailer and when loaded has towhitch weight of 95kg. My Bavaria 696 has a tow bar with a limit of 120kg downward load. Is it ok to tow this trailer.

Yes. If your tow-ball can take 120kg nose weight and your trailer is 95 kg then all is well.

We also tow a bike trailer.

It is fine as far as the tow bar ball weight is concerned. However a near 100kg load on the towball will have a higher load effect on the back axle of the van. The longer the overhang behind the back wheel of the van, the higher the load. Basic physics really and there are few vans about that have enough spare capacity to add over 100kg to the back axle, and this is a big lump of your payload gone.

Does sound like a very heavy nose weight for a small trailer?

Honda gold wing?!

Thanks for the quick replies. The bike is a Honda deauville 650. The trailer is a transvers load easy load made by Remork in France. Looks like I will have to buy a lighter bike or another type of trailer. www.easy-load.fr

Can you reduce the nose weight, by moving the bike back a bit, or adding some weight behind the trailer axle?

Edit: looking at that video, I can see it won't really be possible to reduce the noseweight that way.

Looks like the trailer shares the bike weight equally between the hitch and the axle. Better to get a more traditional hitch where only 10% of the weight on on the hitch.

Pity the box on the trailer wasn’t behind the wheels, could have maybe put some heavy stuff in there to reduce weight on hitch.
