Towing a car

Hi we have a Bessacarr E745 and would like to tow a car(mini) we have a tow racket on the back of the van but we need to get a bracket fitted to the car, I think. Do any of you experts have any advice on which type etc? Thanks J

A Mini is quite a heavy car for towing, have you checked your Gross Train Weight as I think you will be over.

As said get to know your train weight, also where do you intend to tow, if it’s abroad then forget it as it’s illegal in most European countries, you get away with it here. Make sure you do your research on here as to towing, lots of good/bad experiences.

It’s heavy !

Curb weight: 1,325 to 1,450 kg

Where as the 60’s mini was 580–686 kg

Convertibles normally heavier than saloons due to extra strengthing to make the body ridged.

It all depends on what’s at the front of your Mini behind the front bumper. I contacted a very reputable company with the same question you need to ask and was told absolutely not as there’s nothing there to fasten too. Your Mini has a front subframe but I’m not sure it would stand the forces put on it being towed.

Some mx5 can be towed some not. Minis are on the heavy side, even heavier if need to be on a trailer. As said you need to check your train wt. Ps I never seen a new mini towed ( always check) we tow an Up!.

It can be done and has been done. However....Your truck is borderline with the Towing capacity. There is a fair bit of work involved to fit one to a mini . Double check your Train weight as already stated on here.

My Mk1 can’t. Mk 2-2.5 or Mk3 or Mk4 may be different.

Also confirm the towing limit for the towbar. We can only tow 1000kg with our towbar.
