Tony Cutt, who lives in Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, has been told by East Suffolk Council that several car parks do not permit vehicles taller than 5.5m.

Civil servants now with clip board and tape measure..

The height of a normal artic trailer is only 4mts, as is a ‘standard’ double deck bus. Best of luck with the tape measure

Perhaps the article has been changed?
I can only see “longer “

WHY have the council told someone in Nottinghamshire about this?
Surely we should all know

My pvc is usually slightly over the marked parking bays.
Many 4x4s and People-carriers are of a similar size to my pvc.

Not all of the above will be targeted by officials.

"A spokesman for East Suffolk Council said: "Some council-owned car parks cannot accommodate larger vehicles due to the size of the marked bays.

"However, there are a few designated car parks with parking spaces allocated to motorhomes and caravans."

You can park any size motorhome/RV here https://www.google.com/maps/@51.9758309,1.3809301,168m/data=!3m1!1e3
Only one way in from the bottom, the top is exit only and has steel plates in the road to stop you. The grassed area is accessed from the top of the carpark by a gate which is open between 8am-4pm or thereabouts, no overnighting.
Sea road https://www.google.com/maps/@51.9568777,1.3438401,83m/data=!3m1!1e3 is all free parking but has a big camber and is very popular so get there early.
Undercliff road West https://www.google.com/maps/@51.9594721,1.3502329,69m/data=!3m1!1e3 and East https://www.google.com/maps/@51.9632927,1.3655396,112m/data=!3m1!1e3 you have to pay for parking. Often see motorhomes on Undercliff West, again a bit of a camber I sit two wheels on the curb and then its not too bad.

Free parking in front of Landguard Fort, its also free at the viewing point further on but a bit tight for motorhomes, campervans not so bad.
No idea what the guy was moaning about.

Unfortunately Landguard Fort, viewing point and car park on the approach road, all now Pay and Display, we were there last week. Been pay and display for some months, paid on our last visit before lockdown in November
Didn’t see any signs regarding Motorhomes .

We're about 7m with the Scooter rack on. You just need an "inny - outy" ie 2 spaces end to end.. Sorted 😎

Mind you we never use town car parks, just supermarkets en route. The scooter is for towns and we can leave that anywhere 😍

Were just touring the kent coast and I would say only 1 in 12 carparks are not restricted by height barriers annoyingly this included just about every country park or nature reserve
