Please some TomTom Pro 6200 expert help!
I have a TomTom Professional 6200 but for the life of me I cannot get my PC to recognise it and there is no option for importing POI's.
Using TomTom MyDrive for route, height, length, width etc. .. all fine; however there is no option available to import POI .(manual says there is under "My Places") ... but there's nothing.
I have been using my chinese 7" for years, so I know the ropes, but this model has me beaten so far.

Hi @pwilmo

The @Aleman is 2 years out of date as you can load 3rd party POI files and Route Files onto your GO6200 pro.

Open the TomTom MyDrive webpage

https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/#mode=viewport+viewport=51.39601,0.32527,18,0,-0+ver=3

Now Login Top right with your Tomtom account which is the same one you have logged in on your Pro 6200.

Left hand column is a menu list and the 3rd one down is a tear drop shaped sign. Now it depends if you have saved any Favourite places on your unit and saved them in My Places. If you have then

Tap the Tear Drop and a list appears headed Favourites and next to it it says POI Files. Click on POI files and at the bottom is the option to Import POI files . Click on that and find the {POI file you want to import from your Computer. You cannot attach a .bmp file as they do not work on these units. You can allocate a Coloured Dot later to show on the Map.

You add each POI file individually and when you have finished you can turn your computer off. When you turn your GO6200 pro on and the inbuilt sim connects to the TT server it will download the POI files to your unit and they will be listed in My Places below any Favourites you have there.

If you have no Favourites in My Places then you will get an option to add Poi files.

To display the POI 's on the map

Tap Menu
Tap Settings
Tap Appearance
Tap Show POI lists on map.
Tap Hide. an option will appear to enable you to add an Coloured Dot . If you collate similar Poi types under the same colour when you tap on the dot on the map you can get more information on the POI.

Hope that helps.

Hi

Further to my earlier post when you are on the MyDrive website and logged in you can Click on an Option at the top called Route Trips.

When you do this you can then look through loads of preplanned routes throughout the World which have been posted by Tomtom or Community contributors. You can find routes such as the North Coast 500 or an Amalfi Coast trip. You can edit these trips and load them to the latest Tomtom units for use later. Browsing through the Routes can give you some ideas as there are Historic Routes, Mountain Routes, Coastal Routes, Woodland and Forest Routes and what are considered Epic Routes. There are some that have been included which are supposed to be for camper vans.

Thank you every one for your help. Yes I can import POI one by one but I wanted to import a group/file of POI's . This option to import POI does not exist anywhere. As shown by my screen shots ... maybe I have an old model.

Hi

I am afraid you cannot add poi files other than 1 at a time. The model you have is not an old one. It is a current model. The only other limitation is that the POI files must be less than 1mb which is a very big POI file.

One reason why we avoid the newer versions of Tom Tom, it all happened when Microsoft stopped the using their software and they had to go over to Linux I believe.

Hi

Regarding your Screen shots I think they from the MyDrive App on a Phone or Tablet and you cannot import POI files via the App. You need to use a PC or a Mac to go to the MyDrive website where at the top of the column of Favourites as shown on your screen shot are 2 additional headings. Ie Favourites and POI Files. When you click on POI files you get another column with the list of POI files and the option at the bottom to Import a POI file. I have about 30 POI files loaded such as The Pretty Villages De France and Brittany Aires.

You are quite right @Minxy Girl they were taken to court my Microsoft I think for not paying Microsoft a licence fee for some software. Whilst they were permitted to continue to support the now old machines they had to create new software for their units. For some time they did not allow you to add your own POI files but this is now possible along with creating Routes and adding them to the units for use later. There are a number of features on the old units that are still not available such as the ability to create POI categories and adding POI places to you POI files on the unit and have individualistic POI icons which is a real pity.

People have their own preferences but I find that I have had fewer problems with routing with a Tomtom and better traffic than I have had with Garmin and other systems I have seen and used. The Garmin Camper suggests Hedge trimming narrow roads and Cul de Sacs. Someone on this Forum heaped praise of what they use and when I asked what it recommend for a particular route the major recommendation was a hedge trimming one I would reluctantly take a Toyota Aygo along let alone a Motorhome. Non of the GPS units, including TT are fool proof and as long as we use them as an assistant rather than a dictator then okay.

Thank you folks for all your input, great response - hugely appreciated.
That's put that one to bed.

SUMMARY:
I cannot import POI's as a file/collection; only single one at a time. Older ones can, mine can't.

Yes, the screenshots are from My Drive app, however import options are not available to me on web browser either.
Once again thank Motor-homies

Yes but alot of faffing about. I am only really interested in pocketgpsworld speed cams. As faik you cant download those like you used to be able to, unless I've missed a trick?

Yes, but alot of faffing about doing one at a time. I am only interested in pocketgpsworld speed cams, which I don't think you can do with latest tom toms.

Correct the Pocketgpsworld speed camera Poi files would not work as the units do not announce Poi's by sound or voice. However at least you can load them and not as had been stated that you can't load them at all.

The Tomtom Speed cameras whether Lifetime or paid for can be announced either by a sound or Vocally for up to 7 types of Camera type depending which ones you select.
