Tom Tom Go on iPad, iPad very hot!!

On our last two UK trips we’ve used the above system rather than buy new hardware from Tom Tom. It looks a very good alternative to spending money on a smaller screen. I like the screen display.
Problem is that from Cardif to M-K, battery was exhausted, and we had to switch off to cool iPad.
Also used a JETech 10000 mAh external battery, but iPad didn’ t seem to be taking power from it.
I think I can devise a mount that will keep iPad cool, but not sure about battery.
Or do I just use 12v charger?

I’ve never tried the iPad with satnav but they are same charger as iPhone and I use that all the time in the motors, often use phone for satnav just for easiness and it works great

I tried using a Moto G phone as a satnav. It ended up getting too hot to touch!!
One solution may be just to buy a £50 chinese android based satnav for the double din dashboard slot, it's a bit safer as you're not roasting the lipo as it is just powered from the 12V directly.

As my Go910 didn't like the GPS week rollover and TomTom refused to fix it I got a radio with a built-in satnav, not my first choice but I wasn't going to reward Tomtom for their idleness.
