About to arrange installation of the wind down bike carrier whilst at the Malvern show with Hillview Awnings .Not sure to go for the electric or wind up version.Do any funsters own such racks .Not sure if its worth the extra for the 12v version.

If you can use it without the motor if it packs up then why not. If it's motor only then you have to consider the possibility that it may not work. At least with a manual one you know it will come down.

We have the manual version no problem, easy to wind up and down, less to go wrong.
Took the opportunity to get this when we changed our van this year
Highly recommend, no more lifting heavy bikes.

I suppose it does seem a bit over the top using a motor .Someone once explained it was a effort when raising the bikes ,that got me thinking.

We have got the electric version which we bought from Leisureshop Direct @ £599.99 ... this was cheaper than we could find the manual one anywhere.

Instead of making holes through the bodywork for the wiring we have a 13pin plug which just goes into the towbar socket as required.
