Rally Thorpe le Soken, immediately after The Bash - 26th May - 2nd June 2025

Oh dear, I hadn’t spotted that it was on Sunday, what an eejit
I’m leaving Thursday am, so will have to miss out on all of those treasures, such a shame

Do you need any white stilletos? I'm sure there will be plenty of used ones for sale, we can post a pair to you if needed, assuming they haven't been broken whilst the last lady wearing them staggered home ....

The metal detectorists at the rally have just bagged themselves a massive field. I'm not going to say where it is but the comments were 'we're going to need to stay longer' ...... It's under 45 minutes from the camp site, and they need to drive there, but they're happy just to find somewhere to dig, they're sorting out the paperwork and I have suggested a 10% cut of anything valuable be given to the agent finding the land...... Or should I have asked them to pay me more ..? 😁😁😁😁

Our very own 'time team' ...... 👑💍🗡️🔎 !!

Get digging team .....!! 🤞🤞🤞

Why not direct them up to the ancient quay that's only a couple of miles away and made from the original stone blocks from the VERY old London Bridge that was ' falling down' in the nursery rhyme.
There might be something worth finding around there? 🤔

Curry Night

Arrive @7pm

Starters served at @7.15pm ...

Because if the way the restaurant priced it and the way they want to serve us in 'twos', it would help if the singles could sit next to each other please, BUT not if you don't want to of course ....lol

There will be lists of who ordered what on the tables, so we don't have to observe the miraculous conversion of a vegetarian into a carnivore as happened last year ...😁

Can someone let Dave or Lee know we will be arriving about 2.15
I cannot get through in his mobile number
Cheers
Debbie

Weather looks passable tomorrow, might go to Clacton on the train

Can you get to the station via the track at the bottom of the camping field?

No, they closed it off a few years ago ... You need to go via the campsite entrance and down the road to the station.

You might want to consider Frinton or even Walton on the Naze aswell/instead?

Clacton is very much an old style UK holiday resort that has suffered from little or poor investment over the years, but is trying to drag itself up to the modern day. The seafront gardens to the right of the pier are nice, as is the long walk from the left of the pier towards 'gods waiting room', better known as Holland on Sea, but its a good fifteen minute walk.

There are a lot of caravan sites in the area so there will be a lot of holidaymakers on cheap holidays this time of year.

Can we make sure we turn the taps off in the toilet block please, I've just been in and the hot tap was running in the gents ... It might not have been one of us, as the block is open to everyone, but can you just check they're off when you've finished please, so they're not left running all night! 👍

Hello Funsters
Great to catch up with you, thanks for all the chats
Enjoyed the meal out last night and the trip later to the social club
A very big thanks to Dave and the Marshals for organising everything
Best wishes

We're all at the start of our detecting adventure - no treasure or gold found today - but the possibilities are endless.........

"This time next year Rodney we could be millionaires!". Well we are in Essex! 😂

Proof that we did actually dig😂😂😂😂😂

Good haul… a few more days and you’ll have a kilo or so to ‘weigh in’ at the scrappy yard! 🤪

So who makes up this intrepid team of novice archaeologists then? 🙃

If the devil could cast his net ......

Great photos, looks like you really got to grips with the equipment (bearing in mind some of our detecterists are (were?) relatively inexperienced)....

How deep was that bench buried? It must have been bloody big nails for you to detect them ....

And it's pleasing to see that you followed the proper process with the landowner (Inc signed agreements etc sorted by team captain Oscar ) it can only help the status of MHF, though most of the brownie points were handed out this morning after last night's curry extravaganza......💩💩💩💩😁😁😁😁 .. I think you all deserve a big thumbs up 👍👍👍

I paid the site fees this evening and we must be doing something right as I was told if we wish to come back next year, they will keep the fees the same as the last two years at £15 per night .....

Thanks Dave for putting on this meet. Also arranging the meal a great evening.
Had to cut this trip short as I have a hospital appointment.
Sitting waiting for the op now.
Hopefully back next year.
John & Jackie

If anyone is looking for an electric bike, there's one for sale by a Funster outside their van at the bottom of the rally field

Also I have a double fold out manual step, brand new and unused, it's free to anyone who wants it. It's in a box outside our motorhome, but be careful not to get crushed in the stampede, every man for himself, women and children first ...

I bailed out this morning, so as to be back home for the weekend.
Just want to express my appreciation to Dave & Yvette for a fab rally, and of course Rob & Lee, marshals extraordinaire.

Also to everyone who warmly welcomed Stella into the Funster family.

Hoping you have a speedy recovery John Chocy boy

Guess where we are ….

You probably won’t need two guesses! 🤣
